IPS Marketplace Submission Guidelines

Do you create resources for IPS products and want to submit them to the IPS Marketplace? We accept both free and paid submissions. Here are the guidelines:

Curated

IPS will review all submissions into the IPS Marketplace to be sure they work as described, work within the IP.Board framework, and do not create issues (such as conflict with other function or are so inefficient they create server performance problems). This means that we will only accept submissions that are designed to work as IP.Board would intend: hooks, language packs, skin packs, IP.Content blocks/templates, etc. Pretty much anything that can be imported via the AdminCP.

Full applications will also be allowed if they use IP.Board's application framework. We will not accept code-level modifications. Code-level modifications or submissions that do not fit into the description above cannot be in the IPS Marketplace. Those type of resource can of course still be offered on your own web sites.

Required Documentation

We require all submissions to include basic documentation on their installation and / or usage. At a minimum a simple readme.txt explaining how to install the resource as appropriate.

Submission Types

Both free and paid submissions will be accepted. However, submissions to the IPS Marketplace must be uploaded and downloaded via the IPS Marketplace. We are no longer going to allow "linked" files to third-party web sites. Again, you are free to do this on your own sites.

Those submissions that require payment will be processed through our IP.Nexus installation and IPS will receive a small 10% plus $0.50 commission on sales. We are not out to make money off the IPS Marketplace so we chose a very low commission percentage to simply cover our costs and to reinvest in the program.

Support / Update Requirements

Authors that submit to the IPS Marketplace would be required to keep their submission up to date as we release updates and provide support as needed (those that don't would be delisted). Authors can provide support on their own site or via support topic on our forums. If you as an author might have a need to know a list of who has purchased your submission (such as for your own client access list) we will have an API you can query for this information. This will only be available on an as-needed basis and your submissions will carry an additional disclaimer so customers are aware their email address will be exposed.

"Callhome" Policy

IPS strongly discourages call-home functionality due to the privacy and potential legal ramifications involved in varying jurisdictions. Should you decide to use a licensing system or any other functionality that contacts a server outside of the customer's network, you MUST clearly indicate this in the submission's description within the marketplace. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of your marketplace privileges.

Payments

Resource authors can request a payout in the forums client area once their commission balance reaches at least $25.00. Authors can request as often as they like. Payouts are usually processed on Fridays, so it is recommended you submit your request by Thursday, due to timezone differences, to ensure it is received in time.

Cross-Promotion

We will be allowing, and in fact encouraging, you to promote your own site or any related services you might offer in your resource listing. Let's say you are a skinner that makes pre-made skins for sale but also do custom work. Feel free to put a short promotional message in your resource listing's description stating that fact. We want our customers to find quality resources be that on our site or yours.

De-Listing

IPS reserves the right to de-list a file in the Marketplace for any reason including but not limited to: complaints from customers regarding quality of listing, lack of support, lack of updates, copyright infringement, or any other reason that may reflect poorly on IPS or the Marketplace.

Special Perks

Once you have an approved listing in the IPS Marketplace you will get access to a private Contributors forum where you can talk to IPS staff and other contributors. You will also have early-access to software releases to help IPS in testing and developing your submissions.
