On my right side sorta below my rib cage theres a dull pain... If its my kidneys what could it be? I know you guys aren't doctors but you will probably be more helpful then search engines like yahoo and google who just link to other engines... What might my dull pain be and if it continues how long should I wait to have it checked out? I've had it for 2 days...

Thanks, IPS Community :P

Hi Motley.

I know this may sound crazy, but what have you eaten over the last few days?.

I usually get pains like that after eating a doner kebab when the chili sauce is hot, or after an indian take-away.

Cheers,

Ian

I stick to my usual foods: Cheeseburger, Coke, Long John Silvers Chicken, Pizza Lunchables and thats about it... Since 2003 or 2002.. But not so much that it would kill me in a couple of years.

Right side front is generally the area where an inflamed appendix would bother you. Watch for a fever or more sever pains.

If you don't get any worse, play some hockey or something cause then you'll hurt all the time and stuff like that won't bother you anymore.

TMF maybe right about your appendix, but it doesn't seem as low as that. An appendicitis can start on the left hand side ( in the groin area ) well below your rib cage, then it moves across to the right. As your pain is just below your rib cage at the back, it could be several things, and I doubt it would be appendicitis.

Have you done any sports recently because it could be a strain?.

Well basically i had the same kind of thing and found out i have a rare tumour , and i am just on loads of tablets now waiting till they lower my blood pressure so they can operate. The best thing to do it go and get it checked out by a doctor.

sounds like a stomache ache due to gas or maybe depending on how low, a fractured rib. (only treatment for that is advil and time)

If you ate a lot of acidic food recently, try eating some basic foods, and if you ate a lot of basic foods, try eating some acidic foods.

If your pain is at the front - then it is not your kidneys. Kidney pain will usually only occur in your back, right at the bottom.

It could be your appendix, but looking at your diet, which is REALLY bad, it could just be an overload of fatty foods. I'd get some water down your neck and try and flush some of the crap that you have eaten through!

Oh and eat some fruit and veg!

Today, the rich bottom land of the Misssissippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help.

Would that be done with X-rays or what?

*Nervous*

The pain has faded alot now but it still shows its ugly head at night.

usually it invoves drinking some rather nasty liquids (read sulphur in a can) and getting put through a tube wearing very little clothing....

but that was just my experience with appendecitis (sp)....

whats really fun is to find out you have to have your appendix removed and "oh by the way, we saw a kidney stone on the cat scan as well"

It's your health, man. It's worth a bit of nervousness. I'd see a nutritionist as well, your diet is crap and probably causing you a lot of health problems.

What's more important to you, a potential life threatening problem and seeing a doctor or just suffering the pain in the hope that it is something 'simple' and will get better?

See a doctor ASAP!

If it is your appendix and you leave it long enough it could rupture and kill you - unless you can get treatment quickly!

Just my 2p worth.
