Feedback on 2.1 BETA 4

Am wondering, can I start working on a new skin on 2.1 BETA 4? So when the final release comes out that I just have to replace the altered coding from BETA 4-5 to 2.1 Final (usually Matt includes this in his upgrade files)?
Ofcourse I know that I might have to alter some skin files after the upgrade or that I even might loose some skinning of my own...
Reason why I'm asking is that I want to have the skin ready before I do the live upgrade...I'm guessing it will take me 4-5 days to make a complete and awesome skin...
What do you guys advice?
Regards,
Marcello

One more question though...would it be wise to start skinning a new (not upgraded live board) IPB 2.1 BETA 4...after done with skinning upgrade the board to 2.1 Final (copy all skin files etc..) and then launch the upgrade script?
Or would that be impossible and should I first do the upgrade to my live board and then start skinning?

When a stable version of IPB 2.1 is released, upgrade your live 2.0.4 to 2.1.0 and then copy your skin across to your live upgraded board.

Thank you for your fast reply.
By test copy you mean the latest BETA version of 2.1?
So if I do the following, it would be alright:
- 1. Leave my IPB 1.3.1. as it is right now;
- 2. Create a subdirectory on my server and install the 2.1 BETA 4 there;
- 3. Start working on the skin for 2.1 on the 2.1. BETA 4 version;
- 4. After completion, wait till full and stable version of 2.1. Final comes out;
- 5. After release, install the final 2.1 release;
- 6. Do the live upgrade from 1.3.1. to 2.1. Final;
- 7. After a succesfull upgrade, copy the skin files into the upgraded version directory (import css etc);
- 8. Done?

Currently for some site owners I installed the beta versions on my reseller account so that they can field test skins, mods, and third party add-ons.
I know some sites might offer this as well, I just wanted to be part of a family.
Again thank you Matt, IPB and Staff for all the great work you guys have produced.
Take care,
