I think Converge is released, or?

The best way i think is to write an Login Modul and a Converge Componente that integrate Converge User to the Joomla Member Database so that you can use
the Memberinformation with other Joomla Modules.

So if anyone here how can write this, please tell or write a mail. I'm also ready to pay for it.

Thanks.

Oh someone will write something, its just a matter of when. As stated above you probrobly want to wait till at least Beta 2 to start on that. The code I wrote for joomla to pull from invision acually would work from either a forum or even directly tapping into the converge DB with some minor tweaks. I may test it out soon athough it is really a cheat, as it bypasses the way converge works ( XML )and just pulls from the the DB.

You raise a good point about have the users also in the joomla db as well as converge, that is what i had to do with the above code, i wrote script that copies users from Invision and puts them in joomla, then i have a bit of code in invisions register.php that also registers the new user in joomla's DB. the login code on joomla's side (added in joomla.php) then queries the given user name and password against invision and checks the password and salt etc. If the password was changed in invision, joomla would copy the new converge_pass_hash and salt value to its own db. The reason for that is if something happens to the invision forum or it joomla cant talk to it then joomla would pull from its own DB with the last sync'd login info.

Really, the proper way to do it is have in installable login component in joomla that interacts the proper way with converge. thing it is we should wait for at least beta 2 to start that. In the mean time i might just do what i talked about about above as a temporary solution untill then.

Given the that Converge is still in PB1 i'm not sure you will see much on this yet, unless Tommeh ^ has something. I have custom coding (not converge related) i did on my site that bridges Joomla 1.0.x (currently 12 ) to either 2.1.x or 2.2.x and it works fine. But the ideal thing would be a A joomla installable component that talks to Converge. original.gif

So this custom coding essentially allows one login for a joomla and ipb installation?

If so, are you gonna make that available, be it a tutorial or commercial license.

Very interested  thumbsup.gif

it alows you to login into joomla with your IPB credentials. As for making it public probrobly not since a converge solution will be the the best bet. I only thing i will give free is the IPB-2-IPB mode that connects 2 or more boards together.

The source is still Zend/Ioncube encoded, so it's pretty difficult for 3rd party to develop it without source code sad.gif

We have released developer documentation that should provide all you need.

Besides, the part you would be developing is the converge_local folder in Joomla - the equivalent code is contained within IPB (converge_local folder) and is NOT encoded.

I would be very interested in purchasing such a bridge, so I hope someone can make such a bridge that works with converge. It would also have to work with different versions of joomla.

I'm currently in progress of making Joomla 1.5 "converge-ready" ... I just started a few hours ago and I've gotten as far as getting all of the code together to process the incoming XML-RPC data and making it handle all of the handshake requests so the application will show up in Converge. Now, it's just a matter of implementing all of the methods for converge_server.php. I should have a test version available by mid-week, for those who are interested.

Please keep in mind that this is for Joomla 1.5, which is currently at RC 4.

I'm also taking requests for other applications that people want Converged. Let me know what you would like to see.

I'll add those to our list to consider for the next release. I sent you an e-mail about your comment, by the way. Just wanted to make sure you received it.
