We've been having some issues with some work with one of our clients, but the test version is almost ready. :)

Anyone who wants to be apart of the testing, needs to let us know soon. We're about to stop accepting new testers.

Nice to see that there will be an alternative to the BBPixel plugin which is apparently going freeware / GNU.

Not sure if this bridge with IP.Converge can co commercial. Since according to the Joomla! dev team, none-GPL can't connect with GPL stuff. Last I checked, IP.Converge isn't released under GPL. Good job though :D

Well, the main piece of our product sits between the product we're integrating with and IP.Converge. It doesn't use or take advantage of any of Joomla's GPL'd code, so it should be perfectly legal. I'd be highly disappointed in the Joomla Developers if the were to try and push the issue, though. If they did, we'd just drop support for Joomla in our product. I'm sure other open source projects would like more attention from us.

Hi All,

I am the developer of JFusion, a GPL plugin for Joomla 1.5 that is designed as a universal user integration plugin. Many people have asked me to create a JFusion plugin for IPB. However I do not have access to IPB or IP converge.

More information on jfusion (including a developers guide) can be found on www.jfusion.org

Would a JFusion->IPB plugin be helpful and what do you think would be best to integrate Joomla and IPB?

Thanks, Marius

OK, I almost finished the Joomla JFusion plugin for IPB. To be honest, I don't know much about converge and do not use IPB boards myself, but would love to add IPB on the list of supported softwares by JFusion. Now I was wondering if you can give me a final pointer.

Is it best to get the password hash and password salt from the members_converge table (is this installed on all IPB board installations).

Thanks, Marius

I'm interested in this plugin too.  Does it gather everything from IP.Board's database?

I recently tried BBPixels plugin and it raised my members from 550-880 because it screwed up.

JFusion 1.0.4 Alpha has been released with support for IPB !

It does not make any changes to the IPB database, but forces Joomla 1.5 to use the IPB database as a "master" for user authentication. A activity module for IPB is also included in this release.

Enjoy, Marius

Is there a reason the 1.0.4alpha doesn't have any readme or directions for installation?

Forgot to include the readme   You can have a look at the full user setup instructions on:

I tried it but it didn't work.  I realize it's alpha though.  I'd log in and the frontpage would reload as a white page.

Thank Tarun for your feedback.

For some reason your server does not know some Joomla variable definitions. But since these are not essential, I have removed this for the next release (should fix your bug). I am adding user sync at the moment, so the next release will be at the end of this week hopefully.

Cheers, Marius

mariusvr,
Thanks for the update, I'm very interested in your plugin. I've been trying BBPixel and so far I'm not too pleased with them.  There was a problem with their code that made two of my forum members cause my forum member total to literally double. Support is also very slow, even for such a critical issue...
