Can someone explain to me what the difference is between MS Expression Web and MS Sharepoint Designer 2007 is? I really don't see why MS has 2 programs that basically just design websites. I thought Frontpage was being replaced by the Sharepoint Designer, but then I saw this "Expression Web" program. Is that supposed to be the equivilant of Adobe Contribute?

Expression is a general web tool that can be used to design any page. It's the more "advanced" replacement of FrontPage. Sharepoint designer was developed to design Sharepoint portals. Sharepoint designer touches the sharepoint niche.
"Office SharePoint Designer 2007, based on FrontPage 2003 technologies, puts the emphasis on creating and customizing SharePoint Web sites. Expression Web Designer is a new product for creating standards-based Web sites. The two products share common technologies including a high-fidelity design surface with deep support for cascading style sheets and ASP.NET."

Meh. Visual Web Developer is probably better for that sort of purpose. Though I prefer to use Macromedia Dreamweaver or Visual Studio 2005.

I use DW too, but it just surprises me that FrontPage would turn into 2 different but very similar programs. I thought there was some type of Contribute-style features to make them different but from the talks it seems that MS really just wants to confuse people.

I think they're just trying to stroke whatever they can. Sharepoint is practically becoming a buzzword now so they're hoping when corporate customers notice this application they will say: "That application is specifically designed for Sharepoint webparts. We should get it."
