Type without the spaces and ignore my quotes "[ code] text or URL or whatever goes here [/ code]"
Again, remove the spaces I typed.

Well, outside a codebox you can do it by simply injecting a BBCode tag (like so: \0), but that obviously won't work inside one.
Tricky.
Tricky.

(colours are based on your IP address and almost* unique)
(* meaning that two bytes are left unused, and there's always the chance of a collision)

Use two backslashes to escape it.
\
Hmmm, or not.
It's a security measure, I would assume, as slash zero is the null byte. I wonder if I could use ASCII to do it? \0 ... YEUP! Although it's not easy, you'd need to use HTML character codes.
\0 == \0
Please note: Once you go back to edit this, it will be displayed as the original slash and zero, and if you post it again, you'll once again lose it.
Within a code box:

Works here too.

Apparently & does not get converted to the ampersand symbol, but the direct character control numbers do. Those should be & #92; (without a space), and & #48; (again, without a space)...
