So, I'm just about ready to buy my iMac. The 2.4GHz 24" Model (can't justify the cost to move up to 2.8GHz model). I'll be upping the ram to 2GB and adding on AppleCare which with tax will be just under $2500 which is all I want to spend. But... Apple's currently running their free iPod deal with purchase. I'm wondering if it's worth it to throw it on there, pay the extra $30 whatever in tax and then get the rebate back with the hopes that I can sell the iPod for a reasonable price (i.e. $200 CAD (reg. $229 + tax)). I don't need or want the iPod. I have one of the older gen iPod Nano's and rarely use it. Should I bother just to hope to recover 140 bucks or is it not worth it? There's no guarantee I'll be able to sell it.

Thoughts?

I'm leaning towards not bothering. I would if I had a buyer lined up ahead of time tongue.gif

Not worth the extra time and money. Just get the iMac without the iPod.

I agree with what Joseph (Quillz) said.

If you have to pay for it up front and get the money back through a rebate, then no I wouldn't go for it. If they just give it to you as part of your purchase, take it because it's free, then give it to a friend or something.

I'd skip the iPod if it's something you don't want. If you're a student don't forget that Apple gives a discount. Think it's 10% which is not much but helps. original.gif

Yep - it's $100 off through the education store. And yea, if it were free with the purchase than of course I'd take it - but the fact is I'd have to buy it, pay the taxes then get the rebate which isn't worth it. Thanks guys original.gif I'll probably be ordering later this week. Weee

I wouldn't bother with it. After getting the iPod, you'd have to go through all the hassle of listing it, paying auction fees, waiting for payment from a buyer, etc.

I took advantage of the deal and upgraded from an older iPod to the iPod nano - sold my older iPod a little while ago. The nano is quite a slick little gadget.
