1.) Are profiles customizable like myspace profiles? Members can add their own backgrounds and colors, etc.? Example: vBulletin 3.8 currently has this option for profiles.

2.) Does Converge work with vBulletin (3.8 & 4.0)? I might want to run both but have the same shared logins for both. The best of both worlds, eh. This feature alone might perk my interest the most.

3.) How much is the total costs of all these together: forum, blogs, gallery, downloads, content, converge, and branding free (copyright removal on all products)? Any discounts applied for purchasing everything?

4.) SEO urls for profiles and blogs? Example: yourdomain.com/username for profile. Example: yourdomain.com/blog/username for blog.

Thanks and Happy Holidays ;)

5.) Are there any plans for development of social groups like vb has. Members create their own group. Have discussions in their own group. Upload photos in their group. Subscribe to group discussions. Owner of group manages entire social group.

1) Not that I know of, however it would probably be possible to do so with a mod.
2) Not by default, however it wouldn't be too hard to code a plugin for vBulletin. Theoretically, Converge could work with any application.
3)
IP.Board (Standard): $149.99
IP.Gallery: $64.99
IP.Blog: $49.99
IP.Content: $49.99
IP.Downloads: $49.99
20% Bundle Discount: $72.99
Branding free: $275
Total: $566.96
4) Yes.

Thank you so much for answering.

#1 is real important to me. I might have to wait to see what happens a bit longer. However, if #2 were doable I could use both profiles. Lots to ponder on.

A few more questions:

6.) Smilie categories. Are there any? How well does IPB handle smilies. I have thousands in different categories. I'd rather they don't display on one large page. Hence, smilie categories could come into play using a dropdown menu to choose a category that displays smilies from only that category.

7.) Gift shop with virtual graphic gifts. Is there such a thing for IBP. Example: vbplaza, facebook gifts, etc. Either through a points addon or with actual money.

8.) Is there a personal user entrance page? Meaning, is there a page a user can enter or see that showcases everything important to that user (not the forum homepage). Ex: what your friends are doing, your latest blog comments, subscriptions to threads, etc. Like you'd see on Facebook when you login. You see everything that relates to an end user.

Again, thank you for your time. I appreciate it. Happy Holidays ;)

Not built in, but I know Alex was working on a mod called "socializer" that allowed for this. He had it ready for IPB 2, I'm unsure if he's updating it for IPB 3.

Not out of the box, but you could contract someone to write a vb converge module if it were of interest to you.

I see BacTalan has done the math here for you.

Supported out of the box.

We do have plans to implement something in a future version, but the plans are not concrete yet.

You can group smilies, but there aren't proper categories. The current groupings are meant to allow you to use different smilies for different skins. Categories is something I want to look into in a future version, as it's requested often.

There were several mods that accomplished this on IPB 2, and I imagine at least one will be updated for IPB3 eventually.

Well, there's the portal (not enabled here, but enabled on the demo), and you can create a page like this using IP.Content (where you have author fields you use special keywords to limit to viewing member, or viewing member's friends).

Thanks so much for your help. It's taken me months of pondering (and waiting on vb) to come a lot closer to coming over to ISP.

I'm almost sold. Just a bit worried about the transition from vb to ips and/or a bridge. I have a few more questions before I can completely make up my mind. Though I admit, I'd prefer to find a bridge (which I haven't yet).

I'd so much appreciate it if you could answer these last few questions:
  • How limited is the converter script? Is it limited to just forums and members? Or can I convert vb blogs, cms, private message, profile comments, etc.? What if I don't want to convert all content from vb 4.0 community. Can I pick and choose what to convert?
  • Anyone know if there is a converge vb bridge (from vb to isp) for sale? A virtual graphic gift shop out yet, too?
Thanks and have a splendid week*

1) The converter script can convert almost everything from your vB site (the only notable exception is permission sets; vB handles these in a very different way so they need to be redone manually). This page lists exactly what is and isn't converted. If I remember correctly then you can choose what parts to convert, but only within major categories (forums, posts, members, blogs, etc.)
2) As far as I know there isn't a vBulletin module for IP.Converge, however it should be pretty straightforward to write one yourself if you're competent with PHP. I haven't seen a gift shop mod yet, however there are a couple mods that might be combined and/or modified to accomplish something similar: http://community.inv...nts-system-302/ http://community.inv...system-for-ipb/ http://community.inv...ntegration-200/

Thanks so much BacTalan. You've been very helpful.

I'm not gifted in php, so I'll have to google around to see what I come up with for a possible bridge. I can live without the gift shop for a while and completely if I find a bridge. Just trying to keep my fam and friends happy.

Anyways, I'm sold and you'll soon have a new customer.

I don't see the branded free option in the cart area. Do I have to purchase that somewhere else? And does it cover all products I'm ordering (all)?

Sorry. I'm always full of questions before making purchases.

I don't see copyright removal on the main order form, however if you go to the client center > New Purchase, it's listed as an option. I'm not sure whether or not the discount you'd get for purchasing all the products at once applies to it; it'd probably be best to send an email to sales@invisionpower.com and ask.

The copyright removal license will cover all IPS products.

Welcome to IPB! (w00t)

As for your gift shop mod: I was looking into making one of these a few weeks ago. If there is demand for this, I might release it. Drop me a PM with specifics.
