Firstly a quickie for the admins - i tried to register and boo boo'd my DOB year (left it as 2010) - tried to go back and it wouldn't let me correct it - then I tried to email you from the email link on that page (admin@ibforums.com), but this bounced back as no such user. Logged in using FB account instead. Just thought you may like to know this bug.
Anyway I'm a long term forum owner (three forums) and have historically used phpbb - I'm not a developer in anyway however can fnid my way around styles and templates well enough. In January I made what is appearing to be a mistake when i upgraded my main forum to vbulletin4 - although its getting better its not what I expected and I really feel like I've been conned into buying a product that isn't really Gold release.
Fortunately my intention was to trial it on one forum and then obtain two more licences for my other forums when I was happy - I'm glad I did this.
Ok, so now I'm looking at IPBoard instead for all three forums, however I don't want to make the same mistake so have a few simple questions (will search the forum in parallel to this)
1) Has anyone migrated from vbulletin 4.0.2 to IPBoard recently? Any probs
2) Is the phpbb3 to IPBoard migration straight forward?
Thanks in advance
Kaine

Was this on the registration form itself? If so, that's a COPPA form (I didn't even realize we had this feature enabled) and is designed to block anyone under the age of 13 from registering, more or less. You can disable this feature in your ACP if your site isn't designed for children.

1) If you look through this pre-sales forum, you'll see many topics from users converting from vBulletin recently. In some, they update their topic with their experiences post-conversion.
2) The phpBB converter should be straightforward, yes.

Thanks for your info.
Maybe a silly question - just looking at the products pages - when I buy a board license is this time limited? (i.e 1 year license etc) or just a one off purchase
Thanks

The license is not time limited. You can run the software for forever, however your access to technical support and upgrades is limited to 6 months. After that time period, you can let your license lapse if you don't need support or updates, or you can renew for $25 (at any time) to get another 6 months of support/updates.

Thanks Brandon
I'm looking at this basically;
IP.Gallery* $64.99
IP.Board: Business License** $299.99
IP.Content*** $49.99
Sub Total $414.97
Setup Fee(s) $0.00
Total Due $373.47
* $10.00 will be due on September 11, 2010 for renewal of IP.Gallery
** $50.00 will be due on September 11, 2010 for renewal of IP.Board: Business License
*** $15.00 will be due on September 11, 2010 for renewal of IP.Content
Q1, I take it the */**/*** parts are optional after the 6 months (doesn't say this)
Q2. Is there any discount for multiple licences - i.e. I'm buying three sets of the above
Q3. I guess I could downgrade to a std licence after 6 months - don't need to keep as business? its just a support level from what I can read
Thanks
Kaine

1) Yes. If you decide not to renew on Sept 11, for instance, then in December decide you want to renew (i.e. because we've released an update you want), you can renew at that point for the same $25 (and your renewal period starts from that date). Further to this, you can renew just IP.Board if you only wanted the IP.Board updates, and leave your Content/Gallery licenses expired (and/or optionally renew them, separately, at any point as well).
2) Volume pricing starts on your third license. You do get a small discount based on the number of applications you order at once as well.

You may want to contact sales@invisionpower.com to get the best information on this.
3) Honestly, I'm not 100% positive how that would work. That would be another question best answered by our sales staff (same email as #2 above).

Yes, your users will be able to login using their Facebook account on the login page, and then associate it with an existing user login.

Do you mean the portal, or an IP.Content page? Either way, the answer is yes. For portal, you edit a constant in initdata.php (which you can't do via the demo of course). With IP.Content, you do the same if your forum is in the root of your domain, else you can use a special index.php we include with the package.

Using IP.Content you can create static (or dynamic) pages.
If you only need an FAQ section, you could get away with just replacing out all the help files in IPB and renaming the "Help" page appropriately (view help). I'll assume, however, that the FAQ mention was just an example.

Yes, static pages are added using IP.Content. The "Pages" tab just leads you to the "index" page (which you can change). What you would do is add links to your additional custom pages where-ever you want them to show up (i.e. on this "index" page you can link to your other custom static pages, or you could add links directly in your skin templates if you wanted).
You can rename "Pages" under System tab -> Manage applications (edit the IP.Content application, and change the "Public Title").
