I currently run a community site with VB and the VB Portal mod. My homepage shows the latest news postings (from a specified forum) and has 3 columns - a left column with navigation, user cp info, etc. The center column contains the news postings. The right column contains custom blocks which pertain to my site. From the news page, users can navigate to the forums which appear with two columns, a left column and the main content column. Can this setup be duplicated with IPB products? I see the various modules/apps that can be bought in addition to the forums and they seem like they fit my site perfectly, but I'm not sure if/how I can duplicate my current VB site setup using these tools.

Is it possible to have a custom home page which shows news and information with custom blocks in different columns (URL of home page is www.domain.com) and have the forums in a subdirectory or other location (www.domain.com/forums or www.domain.com/forums.php)?

Do clean URLs (no query strings) work on all of the modules, in addition to the forums?

Is there a demo showing the clean URLs in action, outside of the forums? I created a demo but it looks like clean URLs cannot be turned on, even on the forums?

I believe I saw on the site that there is a vBulletin converter. Is this correct?

Your first part sounds like the built in IPB Portal will suit your needs very well.
If it does not, IP.Content could do what you need. :)

Yes, this is possible.

Most of them support it, but not all.
My app, iArcade, is in the process of adding it.

As Collin1000 said, this could probably be accomplished with the built-in portal, but if you need more complex things, you may need to use IP.Content.

All official addons support friendly URLs, and some third-party ones do as well. They aren't enabled on the demo for some reason.

The converter will convert almost everything from your vBulletin site; see this page for more details. You can download and run it yourself for free, or pay $60 for a technician to do the conversion for you.

Buy or convert to IPB today and get the best platform for your community.
