Will the license period be a year initially with renewals at 6 months intervals, or will it go instantly to 6 months upon initial purchase?

Hopefully the clock will not start ticking until the final version is released, especially as the period is likely to be 6 months like everything else.

Yes if you were to buy and then final is two months later we will reset all renewal dates at that time. Wouldn't be fair having you pay renewals on an unreleased product

I saw the thing about the pricing, but wasn't sure if it also meant the same terms as far as how long a license would be good for on initial purchase.  It's possible to have similar pricing but different licensing terms, at least that's how I see it.  Could just be me though.

*This* is the reason we are migrating to IPS products.  Reasonable business practices and treating customers well, in addition to the great products.

Yes, each additional product you buy nets you 5% off. So by purchasing IP.Board, then IP.Commerce, IP.Content, and IP.Download, you will get 15% off the total of the bill. Pretty sweet deal huh?
