Hello,

First of all please excuse my English wich is not as good as i'd like it to be.
I'm considering in buying in a hosting plan in order to start my community, but i have some questions :

  • Is it allowed to make an adult community ?
  • I understand code is encrypted unless I buy a full licence. But what about IPS Marketplace (and especially IP.SEO)? Is it possible to buy mods from there?
  • Is it possible to modify language, templates and image sets?
  • Is it possible to configure the FURL options since i guess we don't have access to files via FTP (and therefore to the .htaccess file)?
  • I'd like to have an IP.Content powered home page, is it possible on an hosted environment?

I hope you will help me answer those questions,

Remi

You can make an adult community, yes, so long as you do not break any laws.

You can install any applications and hooks from the marketplace that do not require file edits, yes.  The vast majority do not require modifying code.

You can modify language, templates, images and CSS to your heart's content, yes.

I am unsure what you mean by modifying the furl options.  You cannot modify any files, so if you are wishing to change the format of friendly urls you will unlikely be able to.

You can get IP.Content with a hosted community, yes.  Please be aware, however, that you cannot add IP.Content to the Basic 10 package (only the Standard 25 or above).  See our hosting plans for more details.

If it sounds like fun, it's not allowed on the bus!

Thank you for your answers.

By changing FURL i meant being able to modify .htacces file after changing the FURL option in the ACP.

One last question about updates. Is the forum automatically updated, or have i the choice of keeping an old version (for example for giving me the time to adapt my custom skin) ?

Your forum isn't updated automatically, you have to put in a request if you wish to upgrade, this is put in place incase any customer wishes to stay with an older version of IP.Board.

You can sort of edit FURL for friendly urls in the "Search Engine Optimization" section in the settings in AdminCP, you can not edit the .htaccess file directly because you do not get FTP Access.

You will be able to modify any .htaccess file (and others such as initdata.php if you wanted a different application as the initial landing page) as only the core source files will be encoded.
