Hi

I have an existing wordpress based site which I want to add a forum to.  I have seen that there is bbpress which is a very basic forum so is probably out of the question to use that.  I basically want to be able to have 1 user for both the forum and main site, is this possible?

I do not want to copy blogs or posts from forum to blog and vice versa.  Just the ability for the user to be logged into the wordpress area of the site and have the same login as that for the forum, without having to register again.  The blog also has a VIP section where only paid members can see certain content, I would also plan to have a similar VIP area on the forum only for paid subscribers, so basically those rules would need to be the same for wordpress and forum.  So for example the user can see the premium content on the wordpress section and also the forum section automatically.  This also goes the other way in "normal" registered users would not be able to see premium content.

I have only used IP boards and vbulletin boards in the past, I believe they are the best and hope to not have to use another basic forum to do this task.

Can someone get back to me asap as I need to get this purchased and setup asap?  Thanks!  Nick :)

Yes you can use ipconverge to use one login for both systems.

Hi
Been reading posts from people saying it basically does not work with the latest wordpress?  Any truth in that?  I basically do not want to spend $150 on a forum license without knowing it will work or not.  Need to know 100% if it will work with the same login details and user credentials.  Thanks for replies.

I had trouble getting IP Converge to work. Not saying it doesn't work, and I did manage to use it with Joomla, but it's not straightforward in my experience.

I used an alternative login bridge for Wordpress from ipbwi.com instead for my site. Needed some assistance with the installation but that works anyway. Might be worth posting on the forum there about any specific questions you have.

I think if it worked, a member of staff would have replied by now as they would want me to purchase?  Obviously I am not going to purchase a license until I know for sure what works.  Thanks for replies though so far.

I would not rely on the IP.Converge/WP plugin as it is simply not maintained (not an IPS plugin) and unlikely to work with the latest version of WP. I never really got it to work as I wanted in the first place, so I gave up on it.

Hello,

Best thing to do would be contact sales@invisionpower.com. We do sometimes offer custom services, and I can't imagine SSO with Wordpress is particularly difficult.

Since the Wordpress IP.Converge module is not developed by IPS, I cannot comment on that.
