So here is the question.

Is there a modification or pre-built in feature in the core product, to which would allow an Administrators to read other member's private messages? Posted Image

I would imagine such a feature or modification would allow site owners to verify user claims or help them police rules.

It's also possible to read PM's directly out of the database, if you have access to phpMyAdmin. I wouldn't read PM's if I didn't have a very good reason to, though - they are supposed to be private, after all. If any of your members ever find out that you're doing it, don't expect them to take it lightly. If you're going to read messages, you may want to add a disclosure note on your site mentioning that admins have access to them. That way, you can prevent compromising your users' trust.

IPB has a feature which allows members to report offensive or rule-breaking PM's to the moderation team, and you may want to consider how useful that would be to you. Of course, you have to depend on your members being responsible enough to use it.

To add onto Feld0's post, once the PM is reported, an administrator (or set groups) can add themselves to the conversation and read the PMs and be part of the conversation.

Well, How would I access the PM's? What table are they in?

Not really a pre-sales question since your already a customer, but the best method is to use the built in report pm feature, then you can add yourself to the conversation as mentioned above.

I have a problem on My board, a person recently reported a pm, one of my super mods tried to join the conversation and "wasn't allowed to view the page",
I checked the settings in system/ report center / plugin manager / Private Messages Plugin v1.0, made sure the plugin was enabled and checked that Groups that can add themselves to conversations had root, admin, and super moderator highlighted, even created a test account and granted it S mod so I could see for myself that this was true, any idea what might cause this or how to re enable it? already tried removing s mod from highlight then saving and then adding it back again. any help would be welcome.

Please login using your customer account email and password, then post in the Support forum. This is not a pre-sales question. Thank you.
