Hello Invision, It's been awhile!

I've done some research on this, but I can't seem to find a solution. Here is my problem:

Some co-workers and I are planning to start development on a very large-scale financial web site. We have been intensely debating which software platform to choose. Right now, the two companies we can't seem to do without are Wordpress and Invision (Wordpress for the blog/homepage and Invision for the forums).

Our problem is one of integration. We can't seem to find a solution to integrate the member databases from both platforms into a single database. The idea being that a registered member could comment on a Wordpress article then meander over to the forums and post there without having to login under a different member registration.

I have not been here for awhile. Is there a solution for this now?

P.S.

http://www.invisionbridge.com/ went offline a long time ago.

Hi,

You can use converge which is a free IPS app with a wordpress module - http://community.inv...cwordpress-101/

I cannot vouch for it as I have not tried it, but I believe it works.

Why not just buy IP.Content and use that. It for making pages and such just like WordPress but better?

Thanks, it seems out of date though; the last update was years ago. I'm gonna contact the author and see if it still works.

Oh neat! Can't believe no one knew about this. Have you tried it? How does it compare to Wordpress?

Hello

I use IP.Content. It is a very powerful solution. It is currently one of the harder apps to use as it does not provide a "simple" page making solution. Although if you know even basic the basic <p> tags you should be fine (asueming you are having a developer code your website template) We have been told that there well be a major release of IP.C this year.

I have a fairly large blog running on WordPress and a decent-sized IPB forum that goes with it, and I'd actually like to know how I could integrate a single sign-on between the two myself. I'm currently working on expanding the blog into a full-on CMS, and I plan to add features to it that members can personalize for themselves (like say, subscribing to notifications about a particular game, like you can do on IGN).

Neosoph, if you don't mind, can you please tell us what you hear back from the WordPress Converge module's author? If it still works with WP 3.1.3, it will do just what I need.

There is a bridge at ipbwi.com which integrates IP and Wordpress. I used it but found it awkward for existing members. The support was good though.

Will do Feld0.

Well, it seems the best option for us is Invision's IP.Content. If anyone else has any more opinions about IP.Content I would be appreciative if you could share them.

I agree, I'll like to see if there's a demo or better yet a website in action where I can see how IP.Content works and how it looks like on a real website (Specifically I'll like to see a real life template)

IP.Content is the way to go. If you were to bridge with wordpress or any other bog or CMS you will always have to worry about integration, updates, new versions, etc.

If it is a financial site that will have user information beyond the scope of a forum you should not use ipb or wordpress to manage user information but should have a secure separate database. As for static content and blog you can use WP and if you want a community to respond to blogs and use ipb comment system instead of WP there are a couple plug ins out there. IPB also did some custom work for big clients where the comments are taken from the forums.

But I would question your decision to have financial information from your customers into a forum database (if that is what you are planning) unless your site is going to be running on ssl.
