Moving from vBulletin to IP.Board
Ran the converter, got 'most' things working (such as members and posts) but had lots of errors

- Attachments not displaying in posts
- Missing PM's
- YouTube bbCodes (custom) got converted to Media tags and now impossible to tell if they were 'originally' YouTube or some other type of tag Media supports.

Anyway, I would like to re-run the converter to see if it can fix some of the issues we have. Will this cause any problems? What can/cannot be re-run safely?

The IPB forums have been in use for a fortnight, so there is new members, new posts, new groups, etc. The old forums are still in read-only mode so nothing's changed from the source database.

If you will do a second rerun of the conversion, then you will loose all the data that you have gained at your Ipb forum during these 2 weeks that it has been in use.

After the conversion, did you run the options at the Recount & Rebuild Manager area btw?

Alternatively you can also purchase a professional conversions ervice from the Ipb.
But if you would like to give it a try for yourself, make sure to download the latest conversion package as it was updated yesterday I believe.

I would suggest submitting a ticket - even though you have not purchased the conversion I am sure support will give you guidance and maybe a solution.

The issue you have is that the forums have been open, so scrapping it and starting again would cost those recent posts.

What converters are you using? The previous two builds of the converters (02nd and 12th of September respectively) fixed issues with PMs and attachments.

If you re-run it, you will lose the two weeks worth of posts/members, but trouble is its quite hard to fix these issues without reconverting, so you're in a bit of a catch-22.

PMs can be reconverted fine, that won't be an issue. Attachments are more of a pain, though not impossible. It's the YouTube BBCode which you won't be able to do much about without losing new posts.

About 2 weeks ago, used the most recent converter then, with a lib.php (I think that was the filename) from IPS support that had been tweaked to fix some errors we got when converting Joomla.

I now have most recent converter (12th Sept) which I was wanting to use to try to fix attachments (they all appear in posts as "attach:32423" etc etc).

Posts are fine. I re-ran the converter for Private Messages and I got all mine back (about 300 PM's) but I don't know how to check everyone else got theirs (out of 1500 or more PM's there seemed about 1000 errors which was worrying). I also kept all my new PM's from IPB (none were over-written). With the 'missing' PM's, how do I know who's missing some, and if they are imported, but not assigned to a user, how can I fix this? This is the main reason I was thinking I need to re-run the converter.

What about just fixing the YouTube bbocdes? These are now inside Media tags, but they just contain the unique ID string from YouTube, so Media tag doesn't recognize what to do with them.

For example:
[media]QwxTKWpyM2o[/media]

I need them to (probably) to look something like

[media]www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwxTKWpyM2o[/media]

Would fixing this be related to re-running converter or completely seperate?
