Considering moving a Very Lg site from VB-

so... after "upgrading" my site and forums and then having to update my dedicated servers (multiple times) to increase ram, etc to "maintain" a bloated vb... I'm FED UP.
I would love for members with large boards to share their URL's so I can test pagespeed, look at js & css load times for normal sites/usage, various themes (basically, is ISB a nightmare to theme like vb is??)
If you've made the switch, I would love to hear how your members took it, where they frustrated? Happy? what were the major complaints/issues . . .
Talk to me peeps- what are your thoughts?

What do you class as a 'large board'?
We have 1.7million posts but would not class us as large compared to others such as neowin

Just remember that everybody has different hardware and that can effect performance. Neowin runs dedicated and is colocated.

Some links may be out of date and the size of the sites will vary - they are all user-contributed links.

IP.Content has so much power and functionality to offer that it can be intimidating. There isn't a GUI for putting a front page together, instead you need to design it with PHP/HTML, but once a template is put together, doing individual pages or content actually becomes much easier.

That would actually be considered large overall. Yes, there are larger forums, but 1.7 million posts is quite a lot among all forums, although 8,654 members isn't (amazing post:member ratio, btw).
Skins: 4Real, Aqua, Aura, Dark Matter, Hex, Kolor, Matrix, Nebulous, Tek

That has a "magazine" buiilt on IPcontent, and the forums are at 23k members with 4mil+ posts.
The servers are running a little slow at the moment, and the forum skin is very "heavy", and we are on 3.14 on that site. We are in the process of working out 3.2 on our dev environment http://dev.talkaudio.co.uk which is the 3.2 version and we have ditched the heavy skin on there - however, this is on a single shonky server for dev only.
When we push the 3.2 out on the live environment, it will be peachy. As for ditching VB - we did, and it was the best thing we ever did.

I wouldn't switch, unless IPB have provided a way to match the URLs. They don't with their blog converters, fortunately we made our own.

I have ran side by side test with 3.2.3 and vb 4.1.7, same site, same server, same load right after a conversion..... and IPS is in fact a little faster!
