Hello,

I am about to create a forum for a sociological study, and I would like people to be able to differenciate themselves during the account creation process among several groups. To be more specific, when someone creates their account, there should be a drop-down menu where they can pick their category, so that I can identify them on the forum as belonging to one group or the other (for example with the group name below his username when they post an answer).

Is this possible? I know an administrator can manually assign a group to single users, but what about an user being able to pick one group or the other by themselves?

The Social Groups mod can be set up to allow members to join specified groups after creating their account, but I don't know whether it will allow selecting groups during the registration process.

That is something that should be asked of the mod author, Rsyvarth.

I think there is a Mod which allows you to do that base on custom fields and parameters (age, country or whatever) on the registration process...

I want to have the members choose their user groups during registration too, and i want to show the forums arranged in different order to different member groups. The members should be able to change there user groups at a later date by choosing from a limited number of member groups allowed by the admin. Is it possible ?
