My last question before switching from vB4 to IPS: Is its possible to change not only the logo of the standard skin - also the background of the logo? The design should be in that way:

You can customise your skin in anyway you like. Theres no reason at all that you cant change the header with some edits.

Yes, absolutely you can change the background on the header area. I believe it's in ipb_styles.css when you start skinning, and I think it's the .branding tag.
