This is something that anyone with a hefty number of downloads could potentially find invaluable ... how about some kind of "link checker" that schedules a ping check of remote files. I know that I must have a considerable number of broken links by now in our dbase and to rely on users reporting them is probably quite impractical. I'm not sure how something like this would operate but options could exist in the ACP to only scan/ping between certain hours and to only ping those entries older than # weeks, etc, as well as perform # pings per hour, etc?.

Those listings which fail a ping could be put back into the moderation queue, broken files, etc?
