I have a test board and I want to make sure all the custom codings, etc. are all working along with my database and such on the IPB test board.
I have a SMF board which is a 1.1.16
How do I go about doing this?

First of all, take a backup of your SMF board, although the converter won't touch source data, its safer
Next install IP.Board then install the converter > http://community.inv.../133-converter/ (you want the 3.2. version) it installs like any other IPB app, just upload its files and visit Manage Apps to see the install link.
Once you've installed the converter, go to Apps > Converters > and follow the instructions.

Once you've installed the converter, go to Apps > Converters > and follow the instructions.

Do I put the database through PhpMyAdmin then do this? I assume so since it needs to convert something.
Which directory do I upload the converter to?
Which directory do I upload the converter to?

Do you have your SMF board still up / online ?
If so, just install IPBoard into another directory (give it its own database)
The converter goes inside the IPBoard directory.

The IPB board database is supposed to be empty right? (I create a database and install the boards) while the SMF one has the actual database with all the information. (seeing as the database is for SMF at the moment).

Install IPBoard as normal, don't do anything to its database. Do not install it into the same directory as your SMF board.
Then you install the converter (its an IPB app so installs inside board)
Then you use the Converter to copy the data across in effect from your SMF board.

The converter stuff, I just highlight all the folders and put it in the ROOT directory of IPB, right?
And I made it so the IPB Board is inside the SMF directory, so it's:
smf.net/ipb.net/admin/install/index.php
That's fine, right?

No, that's not fine.
IPB should have it's own directory, not one inside of another forum.

I put it in its own directory.
I got this:
System Error
There was an error counting the entries in the smileys table - this can happen when the sql prefix is set incorrectly.

I just converted SMF to IPB and I'm rebuilding the content and I'm getting this for each one of rebuilding content:
