Gmail also *does* provide a plain text editor, I've got no experience with the RTE editor. Having a Paste Without Style button is nice, but I only use buttons on my keyboard. And most of the time I don't want to paste style anyway.

IPB has that too...its that switch in the corner.

There's a paste as plain text option in the editor...

There is also the dependancy of what broser you are using: For instance i do not know what firfox uses as plain text, but for google chrome instead of doing Ctrl+V you must do Ctrl+Shift+V. It's really handy, but I cant use google chrome since im using Widows 8 for bug reports T_T. Other than that the RTE seems fine to me if they upgraded to the latest one which IPS should do.

I am a 16-year (as of July 14 2012) old freelancer web-deisgner, that took interest in IPS's IP.Board, IP.Content, IP.Blog, and IP.SEO and nothing more. I just randomly go through files find bugs associated with it (Finding bugs in the Bug Tracker), then attempting to fix them myself with my 16-year old brain's capacity. This is what I call fun, what about you? If you think what I do at my age is weird then deal with it. I don't care what you think. I answer all PM's through MSN (and Invisionpower too now). I'm also a part-time app developer for Windows 8 - basically meaning I make apps and check for bugs between Windows 8 and the apps. (Other company's apps too). You needn't worry about why im an outsider doing things like this, I just like to do things randomly because it's fun.

Ok many things was mention here, in IP content using RAW HTML when i use this code, i end up with text outside the body of the page having gray background

This code was extract from http://www.w3schools...orizontal_float

My understanding is we should be able to use HTML code in that page without affecting IPB Wrapper?

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
ul
{
list-style-type:none;
margin:0;
padding:0;
overflow:hidden;
}
li
{
float:left;
}
a
{
display:block;
width:60px;
background-color:#dddddd;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<ul>
<li><a href="#home">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="#news">News</a></li>
<li><a href="#contact">Contact</a></li>
<li><a href="#about">About</a></li>
</ul>
<p><b>Note:</b> If a !DOCTYPE is not specified, floating items can produce unexpected results.</p>
<p>A background color is added to the links to show the link area. The whole link area is clickable, not just the text.</p>
<p><b>Note:</b> overflow:hidden is added to the ul element to prevent li elements from going outside of the list.</p>
</body>
</html>

If you're in the ipb wrapper then you should only copy and paste the stuff inside the body tags.

What about the style, any tips on how to use them?

Glad to hear most of these issues (claim) to be fixed in 3.4.

I'd been considering filing a complaint and bug report with the RTE for a while now, but like others, there were just so many bugs and issues that it didn't seem worthwhile.

My community hates it and I largely hate it. I've considered hacking it to force all users to use the BBCode editor because of it.

Nothing like having to use GEdit to force everything I paste back to plain text, because I love copying a paragraph from a website with a white background, then having that text paste with a white background on my dark template.

Nothing like bolding text, then trying to backspace or enter key and having my cursor jump all over the place because of it.

Nothing having to reformat my lists every time I edit a post.

There's nothing like it, because I know of no other forum system with all these problems.

Found the solution..

add

config.forcePasteAsPlainText = true;

to /public/js/3rd_party/ckeditor/ips_config.js

No more issues with messy copypasting

Thanks for this, didn't expect it would be such a simple tweak!

I don't know if this has already been addressed, and I'm admittedly a new user of the IPB product, but one of the complaints that really stood out to me and my situation is that when I turn off RTE to get STE (am I using those terms right? STE is the one that doesn't 'preview' BBCode formatting?), the buttons become useless. Being able to hit the buttons (or even CTRL + B or + I like on VB for simple formatting changes) to wrap code around my content would make STE a lot more useful.
