My fear is Gallery will eat up the server space IP.Board runs on. I like how IP.Downloads features a remote FTP for files. Could we get something similar to Gallery in the future?

If you have your image settings right your gallery shouldn't take up too much storage space. For example my medium sized forum with 22,000 members the gallery only uses 492mb of storage space.

That comes out to about 14 photos per member if equally allocated at 200kb. Hopefully I don't use 4 times that in the future. I'll take you experience into mind.

Had to laugh a little when I read this....my forum has about 125 members and the Gallery has 80,000 images taking up about 300GB.

That comes out to each member having 640 images at a size of 469mb per image if equally allocated!! Are they posting Cad files of 3D formats? Are you sure those numbers are right?

640 images at 469mb would be 300GB per member....

80,000 images x 4mb = 320GB which is actually a low estimate, since the gallery creates thumbs and 640x480 versions also.

I notice that gallery allow video uploads. This is even more reason for me to send these uploads to my remote server. I don't mind letting users upload to my unlimited resource server, but not my costly cloud server. Is there any chance of adding the FTP functionality of IP.Downloads?

I am having issues with my server returning error messages all of a sudden. i would sure like the ability to upload to a remote server as well. I am on a VPS and storage space is pricey.
