Hi

I wonder if someone can point me in the direction of someone who could convert an invisionfree board to the latest version of ip.board. We run a board for exhibition budgerigar enthusiasts from around the world, but don't really have the technical skills to move across. Appreciate we will have to pay, just want to get some quotes before committing.

The forum is exhibitionbudgerigarforum.co.uk

Any info much appreciated.

Cheers

Simon

Custom Services directory below would be a good place to start.

You'd have to submit a ticket and purchase your database from InvisionFree before anything.

I convert, install IPB Boards, and more! Check my shop here.

All the persons/companies that provide custom services are listed here

Do you have access to your database to make a backup? Because from what I have read the invisionfree does not give that kind of access.

To add to this. You can obtain the database from InvisionFree for a charge, this varies on the total number of posts. To do this open a support ticket from within your InvisionFree board's ACP. Request a 'conversion' as you require the database dump. This is a paid service and they will advise on the current fee. See here on InvisionFree for more information.

Typically you will receive a download link in reply to your request (and once payment was approved etc) with a message such as:

We received your payment. You can download the data (**.*MB) at http://s**.invisionfree.com/bk/************.sql

Download the data at the link provided, that's the InvisionFree part done with. Please note this does not work / apply if its a Zetaboard, as far as I'm aware they do not currently offer a downloadable database for that.

Now, as its (almost but not quite) a 1.3 database you will be provided with, it may fall into the category of an upgrade in which case a support / upgrade technician here could do it for you. A staff member will hopefully reply to clarify this point. :)

As an alternative, I do have a tool available here to assist if you wanted to do it yourself, it is quite straightforward.

I used AndyF's tool in converting my InvisionFree board. Works like magic; easy and not a hitch. Whatever you use, I recommend to peruse the ACP settings carefully before you import the data, especially stuff relating to auto-deletion (e.g. auto-deletion of redirect links) in case you don't want stuff auto-deleted after transfer. I recommend changing such settings before or immediately after the import, and then go through with any recount/resynch/rebuild/etc. if needed.
