I'm debating whether or not I should migrate to IPB from vBulletin 3.8 (may upgrade to 4x). I have about 30 mods installed currently.

Are there any alternatives / migration wizards for the below mods (or equivalents)?

I know the above is pretty intense, but its a big decision for me, especially the blog, arcade, glossary, spamcheck, forum permission based on usergroups and RealChat.

Is IPB considered more secure, stable, better performance than vBulletin? Please be honest.

Is the chat customizeable, such as does it use forum moderation like word censor, template editable (so I can insert my flash mp3 player to the left side), change theme/colors of chat overall including alternating rows?

P.S.: who are the nicest IPB skin designers out there? Commercial, not the low qual free ones.

- If you mean the ability to highlight text in a post only to quote that part, that is not built in. However there is a hook made to do this.

There seems to be a few misunderstandings, about what the listed vbulletin mods do.

You would need to get this coded for you.

• Advanced BBCode Permissions

This means usergroup permissions for each BBcode.

• Check4SPAM - SPAM detector (http://community.inv...r-registration/ and IP.B has a built-in spam detection service from IPS)

AFAIK there is no such thing on IPS. CHECK4SPAM is not a spam detection service, but a link blocker, based upon usergroup and keywords. Its one of the most useful hacks I use. Nonetheless, check this page out: http://community.inv...pam-protection/

IP.Downloads is completely different from ibProArcade. Its a gaming addon, that allows users to play games, earn credits, etc. I'm not sure if there is an arcade for IPS.

I have been looking for it, but have not found it. IP tracing is more basic in IPB.

There is nothing like vbSEO on IPS. IP.SEO has a few features, but 95% of vbSEO features are not available. As PVV says there is a sitemap generator. I am not sure if it handles addon, like vbSEO sitemap generator does.

IP.Blog is 100 times better than vb blog.

Not available. But likely Vaultwiki will become available to IPB users. That would more than solve it.

Its not possible to verify email before an account is created. You can choose whether you want to review the new account first or after the validation. You will end up with unactivated accounts which will resend activation codes to inexistent email addresses. But you can delete this once per month.

This is not built in. Profiles are one of the few things that are less functional with IPB, but there is an advanced profiles hack that is worth checking out.

if you started using ipb you will love it. And most of the mod you requested are there for ipb. Not sure about profile field thing. I have just seen this in vb and phpbb. May be ipb has.
