Two questions -

When commenting feature is on - is there two separate threads going on? on in the download and one
where the support topic is taking place?

I think it is two separate threads - very confusing - so I turned off my commenting system on the downloads

HOWEVER i really wish the button "Support Topic" were as big as the download button (just below it.)

and we could change it to say "Discussion" or something else..

Also if a new version is added - yes it updates the first thread - but it should also add new reply in (from author)
with a terse link to back to the file download section --

many times you have to jump back to the first post just do download.

You can disable commenting in IP.Downloads if you just wish to use a support thread. You can not utilize the support thread functionality and just use comments in IP.Downloads. Or you can use both (as we do, with the commenting feature being intended as "reviews" and the auto-generated topic for "support"). It's up to you.

Ok but is there an easy way to make the button"Support Topic" just as prominent as the Download button - perhaps adjacent to it.

Sure, by editing the template and/or CSS to change the location or appearance of the button.
