for convience sake, let the search engine have the ability to search the download tags too. it will improve the search result when people use tags while other people use file description but they use the same keyword for both sides

The search system already has the ability to search tags too. You just have to use the advanced search page.

(We don't have tags enabled, so the option won't show on our site)

Exactly, why not allow tags through the simple search as well?

agreed, it should be included on quick search too, let us have the ability to include that search feature on admin option.

How would you do it with quick search exactly? How would the search system know whether to search the 'content' fields or the 'tags'? Or would you just have it search both?

At the end of the day, though, this has nothing to do with IP.Downloads - that search bar at the top is part of IP.Board. I could, behind the scenes, make search terms automatically search tags as well, but it would be inconsistent with the rest of the suite.

it has releveny imo. because the downloads tags we are requesting to be part of the quick search.
As i mention, let us admins have the option to enable/disble this feature at admin option if we dont like it. Meaning enable if we want users to do quick search where download tags will be excluded. Should the user disable it, he can do it from advance page. Should download tag search be completely excluded do it from admin option

Please add this as an option. Here's an example through my challenge:
U have music loops for download, and a download file can span multiple styles, so instead of restricting to category, I let users add tags. When someone wants some slow paced loops, they can type "slow" and get all related files. Also there are so many genres I don't want users to get lost in the category list. Instead they can type rock, fusion, jazz, or whatever the author used as a tag.

It would be nice to have an option to set the search combination as default.

I have a similar way of using tags to this. It really would help so much if tags were able to search from the quick search.
