What is a renewal charge? Do I have to pay every 6 months even for a self hosted plan?
If I buy a standard package, do I still see IP board's copyright on the footer?

Renew is to renew your support and access to here and newer versions.
With a hosted community, you'd have to renew as that includes hosting, a self hosted plan you could let expire (although you'd lose access to download and support) and just renew as and when you wanted to.
Copyright removal is available as an addon extra.

Applications renew every 6 months for continued access to technical support, services, and product updates. You are not required to renew, however if you choose not to, you won't have access to new versions of the product or support.
