Hi, If i log into IPB website on my laptop, Then close the browser, and go to my iPhone and log in i obviously see the website through the Mobile skin. If i then come back to my laptop and load up the IPB website, I'm still on the mobile theme.
Did you manually select the Mobile skin via your phone at any time previous?
Updating status to: Cannot Reproduce
As above. You may have selected the mobile skin manually via your desktop

Sorry for taking a long time to reply. No i had not selected the mobile skin on my laptop.
I will mess around and see if i can get it to reproduce.

Hi,
How are theses settings applied ... with a cookie or a control panel setting?
I'm having this same issue.

Ok i have managed to reproduce this error now, and it does involve me manually changing my skin.
If i load up this website on my iPhone i am on the Mobile skin. I then scroll to the bottom and change the skin over to the IP.Board. Once it is loaded i then change the skin over to the IP Board Mobile theme.
Then if i open the site on my laptop i am now viewing the website in the mobile theme.
I understand 'WHY' this is happening, due to me manually selecting the theme, but wouldnt it be better to have it somehow not do this when moving from mobile to a laptop?
Hope this makes sense!

The mobile skin is just a skin. If you manually select it as your skin, that's the skin that will be used for you whenever you visit the site.
It's no different from Cleancut. If you select Cleancut on your phone, should we be unselecting it when you visit from your laptop?

bfarber, we have over 300 mobile users and all of them report this to us as issue. They visit our site daily with phone and from desktop. They just would like to have mobile skin ALWAYS when they go mobile and default skin ALWAYS when they go from desktop. And not change it again and again and again.
It does not make sense for them to attach mobile skin to user and not to user+user-agent.

Wow, this is an extremely old report....
The mobile skin should get applied to the user based on user-agent. If they visit on an iPhone, it loads the mobile skin, but does not change their actual skin selection. If the user *manually* selects it, no, we do not tie the selection to user + user agent. That would create a lot of overhead in IP.Board unnecessarily.
Why are your users manually selecting the skin? Perhaps the better solution is to add some more user agents in your ACP so that they are automatically tied to the mobile skin without the user actually having to select it manually?
