If you use SHIFT + TAB it will tab out and onto the "Post' button.
Most people only know to use tab.

#2225008 Better Facebook Connect Integration

Posted Matt on 26 January 2012 - 06:31 AM

IP.Board handles this much better:

When you click the "F" logo either on the log in form, or on the register form, it'll check with Facebook to see if you're already connected. If you're not, but the email address on your Facebook is found in the forum DB, then it'll sync accounts and log you in.

If your email address isn't found, it shows you this:

Assuming you want to register as a new user:

You can even determine if you want to enforce real names or not via the ACP

I think that's a much better solution. Presenting a user with a massive form when you want to encourage sign-ups via Facebook is never a good idea. I wonder how many see that massive vBulletin form and think "Oh, the heck with that" and leave.

#2205516 Bravo, Bravo, Bravo - IP.Content Upgrade

Posted R1-Limited on 06 December 2011 - 01:02 PM

I have updated my IP.C with great trepidation, only to find it a perfect Update/Upgrade

AWESOME JOB IPB on this new 2.2.2 IP.C

Minor Expected edits, this time around everything functions perfectly and no frantic support emails.

I am very much Stoked on IPB, coming from VB it has been a huge learning curve, but with the help I have received from this boards members, support and IPB LISTENING TO THE COMPLAINTS and Making IPB and APPS an Awesome product.

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo

#2177044 Thanks!

Posted DarkStarr on 30 September 2011 - 12:41 AM

Just wanted to say a quick "thank you" to the developers behind IP.Board and associated applications.  Coming from VBulletin 3.8 and not wanting more of the same from VB 4, I'm glad I made the switch.  It's refreshing to see an updated forum software that's not the same old traditional "blocky" forum with traditional forum terminology.  I think the modern look coupled with easy integration of other products and hooks as well as the social network integration makes it a great product that can help bridge the gap between social networking and discussion forums.

Anyway, I've just been reading posts and saw all the bickering from others, but coming from VB, I have nothing to complain about!

#2140964 Invision outdo themselves again

Posted liquidfractal on 26 July 2011 - 09:02 PM

Looking in this forum, the majority of posts lately seem to be problem-oriented (along with some posts that IMHO belong more in tech support than feedback?).  But I wanted to start a thread to express, once again, how awesome a job Invision has done on their recent generational upgrade of, well, everything.

Add to this an upgrade mySQL error that crippled my board and had me worried about not being able to complete the upgrade.  Now, my forums are small, mostly personal and very slow these days, so I thought I'd get shoved to the back of the line while more high-profile clients were taken care of in what is undoubtedly a busy time for Invision staff.  But sure enough, within a day my problem was raised to Tier 2 and 3 development, then promptly lowered and resolved as the problem was located and fixed.  Once again I am impressed by a level of customer support I have quite honestly never found ANYwhere else

People can complain all they want (as some do) about Invision being a paid service/software suite; what they completely miss is the fact that you're getting something for your money.  Leave aside the awesome software and just consider the high-calibre support that is so lacking in my experience with CMS project, forums and whatnot.

So in short...cheers to everyone at Invision and for the outstanding work they've been doing! Posted Image

#2140064 Positive Feedback, Members Like It

Posted kenichi tanaka on 25 July 2011 - 10:07 PM

First, I would like to take this time and say how impressed I've been with the new version. While there have been missteps by removing some features like the Avatar system, and with the exception of some serious hiccups, the new version is much cleaner than IPB3.1.

Second, I'm getting some positive feedback from the members of my community. While some of them are taking awhile to get used to the new software, the general impressions have been positive. Some members have even said how much they like the clean feel of the new software. While feedback is still coming in, I just thought I'd relay this to the development team.

#2133085 THANK YOU for .ipsLayout

Posted KyleBD on 11 July 2011 - 08:29 PM

Seriously, this is the most useful CSS class EVER.

Thank you, IPB, for caring enough to clean up and improve the CSS for people like me. 3.2 is miles better than 3.1 in most respects, but in this one especially. <3

#2122610 3.2 Square Edges.....

Posted Tom Christian on 13 June 2011 - 08:19 PM

Arguing that rounded corners slow down a website or crash a browser in this day and age is absolute nonsense.

This is purely a cosmetic issue, and personally, the squared navigation tabs fit very nicely with this skin.

#2122804 What do you think of 3.2?

Posted Matt on 14 June 2011 - 03:11 AM

I hardly think you can say "IP.Board 3 was a flop". It's the product that took us from middling psuedo professional forum to arguably the market leader in community software. The concepts and design elements we introduced in IP.Board 3 have been copied and used by every other forum system out there including vBulletin and XenForo.

I know a fair number of you in this topic have various axes to grind and you seem only to visit us when you wish to support and enhance negative feedback. That is fine and your prerogative. However, when you stop looking outside your own minority group you completely lose perspective.

Sure, a few people outside the IP.Board Haters club have voiced their opinion in a reasonable and thoughtful way and that's great but the overwhelming response has been nothing short of amazing. We're thrilled with the product and almost all our customers are too.

IP.Board 3.2 is a step up. It is leaner, cleaner and puts the focus back on a good user experience and not pointless iconography that adds little. It's time to move on.

It's not about emulating Facebook or Twitter. It's about making it easier to post and read topics.

I also find it incredibly ironic that those who openly state they dislike "Facebook" features such as the "Like" button have been using the "Like" button to voice their opinion on other's posts.

Indeed, I'd go as far as to say that IP.Board 3.2 has made it much easier for you to leave your negative feedback and to support others who share your view.

I take this is a compliment and proof of our continued success because ultimately we want more interaction from our members just as you do on your site.

lol

Well, we use commas in the online list to separate out names, so I don't think it's a big deal.

all a part of forums and will be missed by many, meaningless to ipb staff/some admins but to the average user? Not at all.

This was just meant as a post in go to the last post icon thread.

#2102122 Fixed width layout

Posted Interferon on 14 April 2011 - 01:34 PM

A lot of IPB's design problems stem from the use of a floating width page layout.  It seems like the designers tend to fill the page with redundant information because they don't know what else to fill up all the blank space with.  If you look around the web, pretty much all companies have decided to use a fixed width layout around 1000 pixels wide.  I suggest using 1024 pixels as your width, because that is the native resolution of the iPad.  While I don't suggest using Apple's products to make big decisions that affect everyone, the iPad's resolution is within the range of modern fixed width pages, and is as good a number to choose as any.

If you had a fixed width layout, you could design pages much easier, with more depth, because you would know they would always appear the same.  With a floating width layout, you are designing a page that may have hundreds of different configurations, so you are more limited.

#2101936 Regarding new registration interface

Whoa. It's just forum software. Calm down!

For what it's worth. When people start shouting, that's when I stop listening.
