#2258248 Less is often (way) more

Posted иэvo on 22 April 2012 - 03:40 AM

Honestly, i don't even make rules anymore on my sites... I expect people to have common sense, treat others the way they want to be treated and be fair. That's it, all the little children who have nothing better to do get banned and my community prospers on without having to enforce any rules unless someone goes out of line which is quite rare to be honest.... Just gotta know how to talk with your members and explain them the situation, 99% of them apologize and won't do it again and the 1% will enjoy your Ban Hammer. Still, rules couldn't hurt because they could be referenced but really... to a mature audience, i think its perfectly clear whats okay and whats not.

#1818538 Thinking of converting... but...

I'm a long time vbulletin user too. The vbulletin "gallery" is a joke and is one of the primary reasons I am moving to IPB. As it stands, I have a lot of images in a Photopost installation, and images in the vb "gallery" - and even though many thousands of people have used Photopost as part of their Vbulletin sites, Vbulletin has no interest in helping users migrate Photopost data and images to the vbulletin gallery thing.

This is where IPB just whoops up all over VB. Their gallery is top notch and how it integrates with the great blogs package and the forums is great. The way all this works (or doesn't work) in Vbulletin has become increasingly unacceptable. Even more important is the fact that IPB staff is willing to help me with the import of both my current Photopost images AND my Vbulletin images into a single instance of the IPB gallery, which is a situation that Vbulletin left me high and dry with. I hope to get all this done in the next couple of weeks and I'll update everyone on how it all turns out.

So to summarize - the IPB blogs are way better, gallery is way better, and there is actual, effective integration between the products. But most important of all - IPB is willing to go the extra mile to help me get all this sorted out when Vbulletin won't even reveal what the next round of products will look like, much less actually help me get stuff sorted out.

Charles I understand that. I just like to know if it is a matter of a couple days, a couple of weeks or maybe a month so I know how to plan everything out for my forum.

I would love to tell you, I really would, but some people take release date estimates far too seriously and will go crazy if we miss an estimated date.

Posted IPS News on 20 June 2009 - 12:01 PM

The final and supported version of IP.Board 3.0.0 along with its applications (Blog/Gallery/Downloads) is nearly here! We are happy to announce our last license and conversion sale before IP.Board 3.0.0 is released.

IP.Board Standard License Sale

Starting now and ending June 30, 2009 at 5:00 pm EDT the price of an IP.Board Standard License will be reduced from $149.99 to $129.99 for all new orders. The 6-month renewal price will remain the same.

Free Conversion Service

If you are currently using a different forum software, now is the time to switch to the web's most advanced community software without any work on your part!

Our staff will convert your database to IP.Board at no cost to you. This is a savings off the normal $60.00 conversion fee! This applies to basic conversions from the software listed on the conversion information page. To take advantage of this offer, just email accounts@invisionpower.com by the end of the sale and our conversion team will take care of your database conversion for you. You will need to have an active IP.Board license to take advantage of this offer.

If your software is not listed on the conversion information page, we can still convert your software as a custom conversion. Just contact sales for a quote or more information.

Please email sales@invisionpower.com if you have any questions. Thank you!

Scheduling Note

Because of the tremendous increase in conversion requests over the last two weeks, our conversions staff may work with you to schedule a general time frame to perform the conversion service. You will have a single person to work with to arrange your conversion to make the process as easy as possible. Also, when contacting about a conversion, please specify if you want to convert to 2.3.6 or wait for 3.0.0 to be released before proceeding.

Also, be sure to get your request in as soon as possible. Because IPB3 final is very close, we want to be sure all conversion requests under this sale are scheduled before the rush of requests come in after IPB3 is released.
