#2073233 IP.Tracker 2.0.0 Released

Posted IPS News on 26 January 2011 - 05:33 PM

Invision Power Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of IP.Tracker 2.0.0!

IP.Tracker is our free project management system for IP.Board, allowing you to powerfully manage projects and tasks within your community.

New Features

  • Overhauled Admin CP and tweaked front-end interfaces.
  • Deeper integration with IP.Board, making use of the like and notification systems.
  • Tracker Modules and Fields, powerful new options for dealing with statuses, severities and versions.
  • Powerful permission system allowing you to fine-tune access to certain Tracker features.
  • New version system giving you complete control over a projects versions.
  • Highly extensible for third-party developers.

Downloading

IP.Tracker is available for free to all active IP.Board license holders, and is available directly from the IPS Marketplace.

Once downloaded, extract the zip archive and upload the contents of the /upload folder directly to your IP.Board's root folder. Visit your Admin CP and navigate to 'Manage Applications & Modules'. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find "IPS Add On / IP.Tracker", click install and let it run through the installation routine.

Upgrading from a previous release

If upgrading, you must visit http://yourforums.com/admin/upgrade/. IP.Board will not show IP.Tracker as having an available upgrade through the usual Admin CP, you must visit the upgrade URL!

Due to the nature of the upgrade, and in particular the new versions and permission systems, there are some notes regarding upgrades.

  • IP.Tracker will scan the issues table for all versions that have ever been in use, and record them in the new versions system. Versions that were not in use at the time of you upgrading will be marked as 'locked', current versions will be marked as open. It is advised that you check the versions for each project and decide what to do with the old 'locked' versions.
  • Similarly, the new field system has a powerful permission manager at its core which statuses, versions, and severity all make use of. Upon the completion of the upgrade, IP.Tracker will automatically fill in permissions for each project so that administrators can perform all tasks for each field, but again it is advised for you to manually go through these and fine-tune them to your needs.
  • Upon completion of the upgrade, please visit the IP.Tracker Admin CP -> Useful Tools, and rebuild all caches. The upgrade will then be complete.

IPS Extras Support Note

As one of our "IPS extraa" products, IP.Tracker does not have ticket or phone support and does not include install/upgrade service. Please use the IPS Extras forum for support or feedback as appropriate.

Release Notes

  • IP.Tracker requires at least IP.Board 3.1.4 and will not install on prior versions.
  • If upgrading from a previous release, please visit the project management area in the Admin CP and check each projects 'fields' permissions, setting them to what you need.
  • If upgrading from a previous release, please check each projects versions. IP.Tracker will automatically convert versions to the new system, but will also add older versions that are no longer used (marking them as closed). It is advised that you check the project versions and remove any you do not need.
  • If upgrading, you must visit http://yourforums.com/admin/upgrade/. IP.Board will not show IP.Tracker as having an available upgrade through the usual Admin CP, you must visit the upgrade URL!

#1979741 Suggestion: Custom Fields Per Category or Type

Posted chilihead on 29 June 2010 - 11:33 PM

Would be nice to have the custom fields relative to categories. I have many to add for different uses like reviews, recipes, tutorials, etc. It could be per category, or a new feature called a custom field set that you select in a category and then you see the selected custom fields when creating articles in those categories.

Can't do it now unless you want to see all those different custom fields every time you create an article, when they don't have relevance. Will just confuse article writers so holding off and hoping this can be added.

Thanks!

#1890305 IP.Metrics

Posted Garthilk on 20 December 2009 - 11:24 AM

In addition to tracking visitors, pageviews, signups, etc., IP.Metrics would show you how many threads and posts are being created over time. It also shows which threads are the most active, most viewed, etc on a daily, or variable basis. How many PM's were sent in a given period, who are the most communicative members. Give the most status updates, etc. What are popular topics, etc. I'd love to see topic trending, hot topics, topic metrics. Who are the power users, spending most time on the site, conversion rates for new users to post, new users time on site, etc.

Now, no one should disagree: message boards are hard to monetize conversations trapped inside them. If one could solve this quandary, they could somehow make money. I think good analytics is going to be key. If IP customers can make money easier, then IP in turn should make more money.

#1822224 Four suggestions for 3.1

Posted teraßyte on 08 July 2009 - 03:26 AM

  • In the skin editor when you click the button "Compare Differences" the popup is too small, it should open with a bigger size like when you click on the green button on a template tab to work full screen on the template.
Also would be nice if the popup with the differences needs to be closed clicking on the close button because if you click by mistake outside it you need to click again compare differences. (probably you can make this change also in 3.0.1 instead of 3.1 :P )
  • A nice addition in ACP would be to make the same modular thing made for the groups also for the forums, I know a lot of mods out there adds settings to each forum and a system like the one used for the group permissions would help a lot modders.
  • Can you please add 2 more parameters ($lang_file and $app)  in the getTemplate function of the hanEmail class?
If we use an email template from another file we ned to load it before calling the function and if for any reason the check of the language set by the user fails the board loads the default file with the default language that of course won't have our custom email templates.
For now I solved the problem writing my own getTemplate functions but honestly is a bit annoying that I need to copy/paste the same function just to change the template name (I think I have done the same thing for IP.Tracker if I don't mistake :P)
  • Now that you added the small icon to let us know which topic we are tracking in forum view can you also add a link to that image so we can unsubscribe from those topics without opening them one after one? :o (Maybe with some nice ajax code to not reload the page :D)

#1812494 Final or RC3?

Posted Matt on 22 June 2009 - 11:32 AM

Regarding the subscriptions manager. I'd like to point out that all of us at IPS take it very seriously and no one here wants to see it neglected. We realise that many of you monitize your forums using the SM so we have no plans to remove it or make it a poor cousin.

Our immediate plans are:

- Refactor the subscriptions manager from 2.3.6 to 3.0.0 [Done]
- Tidy up the ACP interface [Done]
- Fix reported issues with expiring subscriptions, upgrades and PayPal [Done]
- Write hooks and add settings [To Do]
- Release to QA [To Do]
- Release Beta / RC [To Do]

I spent most of last week and identified and fixed several issues. Most of which can be back-ported to 2.3.6. More details to follow.

#1811931 License and Conversion Sale

Posted IPS News on 20 June 2009 - 12:01 PM

The final and supported version of IP.Board 3.0.0 along with its applications (Blog/Gallery/Downloads) is nearly here! We are happy to announce our last license and conversion sale before IP.Board 3.0.0 is released.

IP.Board Standard License Sale

Starting now and ending June 30, 2009 at 5:00 pm EDT the price of an IP.Board Standard License will be reduced from $149.99 to $129.99 for all new orders. The 6-month renewal price will remain the same.

Free Conversion Service

If you are currently using a different forum software, now is the time to switch to the web's most advanced community software without any work on your part!

Our staff will convert your database to IP.Board at no cost to you. This is a savings off the normal $60.00 conversion fee! This applies to basic conversions from the software listed on the conversion information page. To take advantage of this offer, just email accounts@invisionpower.com by the end of the sale and our conversion team will take care of your database conversion for you. You will need to have an active IP.Board license to take advantage of this offer.

If your software is not listed on the conversion information page, we can still convert your software as a custom conversion. Just contact sales for a quote or more information.

Please email sales@invisionpower.com if you have any questions. Thank you!

Scheduling Note

Because of the tremendous increase in conversion requests over the last two weeks, our conversions staff may work with you to schedule a general time frame to perform the conversion service. You will have a single person to work with to arrange your conversion to make the process as easy as possible. Also, when contacting about a conversion, please specify if you want to convert to 2.3.6 or wait for 3.0.0 to be released before proceeding.

Also, be sure to get your request in as soon as possible. Because IPB3 final is very close, we want to be sure all conversion requests under this sale are scheduled before the rush of requests come in after IPB3 is released.

#1802850 IPB3 admin language

Posted boon79 on 17 May 2009 - 02:58 PM

Hi,

In version 2, the administration could not have been translated. In version 3, it is still not possible entirely. The phrases of the left column menu are stored in separate files.

Can we (international users) expect a fully tranlatable administration interface in the near future?

Thanks
