#2090278 payment gateways?

Posted Sean James on 13 March 2011 - 05:16 PM

Mark I am shocked by your response and only makes me feel we will be waiting a long time for extra common gateways. I love Nexus but the lack of payment gateways is a huge negative for me.

FYI I am manually adding about 10
+ sales from 2checkout and Moneybookers per week.

#2044487 IP.Board 3.1.4 Released

Posted IPS News on 18 November 2010 - 07:33 AM

Invision Power Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of IP.Board 3.1.4

IP.Board 3.1.4 is a maintenance release that fixes issues reported in the previous version and also adds required support for the new application updates scheduled to be released over the next few weeks. We were forced to release patches to 3.1.3 to address a few unforeseen issues with updates to IP.Board so it would be compatible with our new application releases. Version 3.1.4 is a version-number increment so all of our customers can be sure they are fully up to date with those patches. In addition to the 3.1.3 patches it also contains a few other bug fixes and small changes however there are no skin template, CSS, or language changes.

Downloading

You can download IP.Board 3.1.4 in the client area. You might also read our general upgrading instructions for our software.

If you are already running IP.Board 3.1.3 you can also download an upgrade pack in the client area that contains only those files changed between 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 which allows for a faster upgrade process.

Support Note

As with any release, please expect support response times (particularly for install/upgrade requests) to be longer than usual for the next few days. Refer to your license terms for support response SLAs. The upgrade pack for 3.1.3 to 3.1.4 makes upgrades much faster and easier so, whenever possible, you may wish to consider taking advantage of that option.

Downloading

You can download these releases in the client area and begin enjoying the new features.

Release Notes

  • We have had three beta releases for testing and are confident any major issues have been addressed. However, as this is the first supported release that will be used by thousands of people, there could be as yet undiscovered issues. Please report issues in the bug tracker.

  • Important technical support note: During the launch of the new products, and the great interest they will create, support response times (especially for install or upgrade requests) may be delayed. We appreciate your understanding during the launch time. If your community is critical in nature and even the slightest delay in support services would impact you then you may wish to wait until version 3.1.1 to upgrade.

  • If you are upgrading from IP.Board 3.0.x then please note that, although this is not a destructive upgrade, you may need to manually update any skins you have using the new merge center to add the new functionality. You may also need to update any custom applications or hooks to use some new file locations. Technical support from IPS for skins is limited. When in doubt contact the author of the skin or use the default skin that ships with IP.Board.

  • If you are currently using Facebook Connect integration, you will now need to add your Facebook application ID into the system settings. Please see this article for more information.

  • Legacy chat services Addonchat and Parachat are no longer supported from version 3.1 onwards. If you are using these older services and wish to continue doing so: do not upgrade to version 3.1 at this time. You may wish to consider switching to our new IP.Chat service.

  • Keep in mind that all the new application versions also require IP.Board 3.1 to operate. Do not try to use them on older versions of IP.Board.

Version 3.1.1 Coming Soon

IPS is dedicated to promptly fixing any reported issues and will do so with the release of version 3.1.1 soon after 3.1.0's release. You may also wish to keep an eye on our knowledge base where we will release patches for any critical issues that come up between the two version releases.

As defined in the release notes: because this is the first widely-distributed release there will be as yet undiscovered issues. You can expect a maintenance release, IP.Board 3.1.1 (and other application maintenance releases), in the next two to three weeks (around mid-June) to address issues reported in this first supported release. We appreciate your understanding and hope you can assist us in identifying any problems in this first supported release so we can quickly remedy them in our next update.

#1950613 IP.Commerce hosting control panel integration

Posted Charles on 10 May 2010 - 09:15 AM

Hosting integration is something we will surely be adding to a future version. It's just a bit too big of a thing for a 1.0.0 release :)

#1950611 IP.Commerce hosting control panel integration

Posted Dannyarr on 10 May 2010 - 09:13 AM

It would be great if IP.Commerce integrated with cPanel/WHM, Plesk and DirectAdmin for automated hosting account creation.

The only other decent hosting billing system out there right now is WHMCS and since IP.Commerce sounds like it will handle everything else quite well this addition would make it a perfect fit for many of us (that offer hosting services).

#1920271 Calendar Application Patch for IP.Board 2.3.6 and 3.0.5

Posted IPS News on 03 March 2010 - 10:15 AM

We have identified an issue with the Calendar application present in IP.Board 2.3.6 and 3.0.5. This issue can allow a visitor to delete events in the Calendar even if the user does not have the proper permissions to do so. Other than the ability to delete events without permission there are no other security risks with this issue.

Please apply this patch if you are using IP.Board version 2.3.6 or 3.0.5 and you are using the Calendar application. If you do not use the Calendar application then there is no need to be concerned with this update.

Patch files are attached to this topic. The main downloads for IP.Board 2.3.6 and 3.0.5 have been updated.

#1922743 IP.Board 2.3.6 and 3.0.5 Security Update

Posted IPS News on 08 March 2010 - 09:34 AM

It has come to our attention that there is a possible XSS exploit present in both IP.Board 2.3.6 and 3.0.x. This vulnerability allows the attacker to insert CSS or Javascript into certain BBCodes that is executed when a user displays the page.

IP.Board 3.0.5

Please note this patch will only work with IP.Board 3.0.5. If you are using an earlier version of IP.Board 3.0 then you will need to upgrade to IP.Board 3.0.5. After you have upgraded, you will not need to add this patch.

IP.Board 2.3.6

#1893090 IP.Metrics

Posted Garthilk on 29 December 2009 - 11:27 AM

Jaggi,

You are right, most of the stats can be gotten to easily, however there are a great deal many that cannot, like moderation trending, etc, reputation trending, etc. In addition, the presentation and ease of use could be seriously improved. I'm in the process of putting together an outline for the proposed product and some mockups to further the idea.

The goal of IP.Metrics would be:

  • Listen, to what is being said.
  • Engage, tactically and strategicially.
  • Measure, quantify, rather than guess.
Core Features

  • Group Scoping, get granular with permissions and the analytical information you're reporting. Create custom pages for different groups, showing them specific information relevant for them. Whether it's moderation metrics for your moderation team. Or custom reports for your community management team, showing them trending topics.
  • Widget Reporting. The reports would be done by widgets and placed on pages. Allowing users to custom create their own widgets for their own communities.
  • Graphing. Metrics can be displayed in various graph form or in detailed form, with important trending for comparible time periods.
How well do you understand your community?

  • Are your keywords and phrases being mentioned negatively or positively?
  • How are your members contributing to create content?
  • Where are your moderators spending time?
  • What content is most accessed?
  • How is content being used?
  • What are your sites strengths and weaknesses?
  • What is the experiance time for your customer?
A couple of specific examples:

  • Hot Topics - Helping you understand the customer voice, track the mentions of specific keywords and phrases.
  • Temperature - Are posts with your specific keywords and phrases getting good reputation or bad reputation?
  • Issues Radar - Find topics being discussed that you didn't know were important. If there are fast appearing topics that aren't in your existing keyword or phrase tracker, this shows you upcoming.
  • Application based metrics. Show us which applications are being used, how, and the metrics.
  • Identify - There are users who participate, those whom create. Tools to help you identify whom is who and look at the types of content they're creating or participating in.
  • Track Searches - If you know what your people are looking for on your site, you can help them find it. Find the content and highlight it.
  • Contributions - Reports for blogs, galleries, content pages, chat topics, etc.
  • Types of users - Infleuncers (lots of friends, posts get lots of topics, posts have significant outbound links, posts have good reputation, recieve lots of views). Infleucners would be people in your community you want to assist to help in your community. Other types of users would be commentors, connectors, askers, answerers, originators, creators, etc.
That's a very rough outline mind you but you get the idea of why I think a solid metrics package could help nearly any community.

Why would you not use Google Analytics?

Also as far as add targeting, Google AdSense have bots that crawl your site to determine this. They even give you special comment tags that you can wrap the content with (to exclude the wrapper).
Google can't track logged in users across different IPs (e.g. work & home).  Its not that smart.  Plus I don't like their JS.  I prefer server-side, not client-side tracking.  For instance, I actually have google-analytics.com blocked, so I am invisible to them and that skews the stats.

With this you could target segments using profile data (male, female, age), high post areas, specific groups.  Granted, some of that you could already (profile stuff), but then that information can be combined.  You could provide good demographic information to advertisers, not just pageviews, unique visits, bounce rates, etc.  For someone who wants to actually sell ad space, not just let Google do it, this would be something to really bump up the CTR.

In addition to tracking visitors, pageviews, signups, etc., IP.Metrics would show you how many threads and posts are being created over time. It also shows which threads are the most active, most viewed, etc on a daily, or variable basis. How many PM's were sent in a given period, who are the most communicative members. Give the most status updates, etc. What are popular topics, etc. I'd love to see topic trending, hot topics, topic metrics. Who are the power users, spending most time on the site, conversion rates for new users to post, new users time on site, etc.

Now, no one should disagree: message boards are hard to monetize conversations trapped inside them. If one could solve this quandary, they could somehow make money. I think good analytics is going to be key. If IP customers can make money easier, then IP in turn should make more money.

#1886299 Invision Power Board 3.0.5 Released

Posted IPS News on 08 December 2009 - 04:59 PM

We are pleased to announce Invision Power Board 3.0.5 has been released.

This is a maintenance release for IP.Board 3 and addresses various bugs, security enhancements, and performance improvements.

Major Changes Since 3.0.4

Among many dozens of smaller bugs fixed and performance improvements, the following security enhancements were made:

  • SQL and local file include issue fixed. Note: Due to protection within the SQL driver classes, it is very difficult to effectively exploit IP.Board using this attack. Also you need moderator permissions to perform any exploit. We've hardened this code regardless. Also, due to the input cleaning functions IP.Board uses, the local file include is limited to PHP files on the file system as the usual 'null byte' trick is ineffective.
  • Internet Explorer XSS Issue due to incorrect attachment handling fixed.

Downloading

You can download IP.Board 3.0.5 and any applications you have an active license for in the client area. As always, make a backup of your community before proceeding.

#1884926 CJOIN-0 error :: Please Read

Posted bfarber on 04 December 2009 - 12:27 PM

We are aware that some users are experiencing an error with the beta release of IP.Chat when trying to launch the chat room

[#CJOIN-0] There was an error connecting with the chat room. Please notify an administrator.

This error is NOT related to the browser you use. The error indicates that you managed to connect to our gateway server fine, but had trouble connecting to the actual chat server.

Please note the following:

  • We are aware some users are experiencing this error and are troubleshooting it presently. There's no need to submit any more bug reports on it, or open new topics about it (though feel free to reply to this one if you wish).
  • There is not likely anything you can personally do to fix this issue, so don't bother looking for settings to change or templates to rebuild, in an attempt to correct the problem.
  • In *most* cases, if you simply refresh the page you will be able to access the chat room
We understand that any error prohibiting you from actually making use of the software can be frustrating, but this is exactly what a beta release is intended for - to help us identify issues that crop up in uncontrolled environments that we aren't seeing in our controlled environments. Please be patient while we work out the various bugs you are finding with chat. We are sure you will be very happy with the final product, and we thank you for taking the time to test chat in it's current stage so we can nail down these problems and get them fixed before it goes final.

I will update this topic once we believe we've found a solution so that you can test further. If you are not experiencing the problem, feel free to continue testing chat otherwise. And as stated above, generally a simple refresh of the page will allow you to proceed past the error.
