#2258347 Massive decrease in page loading time with 3.3.1!

Posted Jinkler on 22 April 2012 - 11:21 AM

Good work fellas on this release. I've just upgraded TalkFord.com and my board index exec time has dropped from 0.5 seconds on average to 0.3!

Now archiving 80% of my topics and posts, looking forward to seeing the difference :)

#2250424 Move Market Place Link.

Posted Ocean West on 05 April 2012 - 04:35 AM

I would really like to see the Marketplace Link back on the main bar and not hidden under the IPS Client Resources menu.

#2252759 File authors should be notified of reviews for their own files that they follow.

Posted Ryan H. on 10 April 2012 - 11:24 PM

Agreed. I've ended up checking my file pages rather routinely to see whether there are any new comments.

#2252758 File authors should be notified of reviews for their own files that they follow.

Posted Con on 10 April 2012 - 11:16 PM

Sometimes the reviews may relate to important issues or queries, which could be resolved or clarified more quickly if the author is notified. I realize that the IPS Marketplace isn't intended for such, but IPS members seem to use it for such anyway, and in any case it could help on other sites.

#2232043 IPB missing some basic elements of a forum

There are many features they have that we do not have and many features we have that they do not. It is different not bad

#2225628 Insufficient response to our Feedback

Posted ΑndyF on 28 January 2012 - 06:40 AM

Please be assured all feedback is read :) , I can see you think its being ignored but trust me its not the case.

As above it would be near impossible for a developer to respond into detail into every single feedback topic, if they did they would have precious little developing time left.

#2227659 Request for improved skin/add-on compatibility

Posted Connor T on 03 February 2012 - 12:40 AM

Or another type of fix. Which is probably harder.

If the image cannot be found in the skin folder, check master for it. Then try and load it. Otherwise 404 the image.

#2207941 IPS QA TEAM ?

Posted bfarber on 11 December 2011 - 09:09 PM

Actually, version control does virtually nothing to prevent an old bug from resurfacing.  Old bugs do not resurface because we reverted a version in SVN - they recur because of numerous other reasons, usually because fixing the original bug causes a new bug, and when that new bug is fixed, it is usually by changing the code that was implemented when fixing the original bug...  e.g., human mistake.  No amount of version control (which yes, we employ), stops the human factor in software development.

#2201730 No Cyber Monday at IPS!

What is the Cyber Monday Deal here!
IPS Should offer a Cyber Monday deal too...
We offer a Cyber deal.  When you buy IP.Board and then one or more of the add-on apps, you get a discount ranging from 5% to 25%, depending on how many different apps you purchase.

Better hurry while the getting is good. ;)

#2199718 The Most Important Factors about IPS

Posted Echelon One on 22 November 2011 - 10:24 AM

I thought I would give you my views with IPS, and how I have found them to be such a friendly and great company.

Support

I moved to IPS products over a year ago now, before I was running vBulletin. I did the conversion myself, but I had to ask IPS Support about one small issue using the converter - turned out to be some corrupt data in a field that was stopping IP.Board importing, so nothing major there. That was my first encounter with Support Tickets on IPS, and I was impressed by the time factor. A very friendly team - my last Support Ticket was a bit different though, which I am assuming is a bug since it went from Tier II, Tier III and then on to Advanced Development. On this occasion it has taken longer, but then it was not just something simple and will probably end up on the Tracker.

The Suite

In the end I bought the entire suite, the blog I did not really need but I got it in a sale, so I grabbed it. IP.Nexus, well that really does do IP.Board justice, monetizing your forum could not be easier. What I don't understand is why some people complain about the IP.Gallery, it is far better than most gallery scripts. I used to use Photopost Pro with vBulletin, and that is a nightmare of a script, alignment issues, coding problems and hasn't had a major coding overall in years! IP.SEO, that's one piece of software that should be used with any IP.Board in my opinion, what harm can it do, it's even free! If you know about SEO it is very useful for setting up your keywords and descriptions, setting these up correctly can take a few weeks, but the time factor does pay off in the long run. Just last week I had a person asking me if it was possible to get his forum on the first page of Google and in front of his competitors - it took me just two days to achieve that goal, eventhough his competitor's domain was 7 years older and more established. And that was done using some tweaks to IP.Board and following search engine guide lines on keywords and descriptions using IP.SEO.

Overall view

My own view on IPS is if you want a forum, which you can expand upon as your forum grows then IP.Board is the best for your needs. I know quite a few forum owners, that I do work for - I even persuaded them to move away from vBulletin, since it started going 'downhill'. So many people told me not to change to IP.Board because I would lose my PR (Page Rank) and indexed urls, this is one thing that did not bother me, since I was starting a new domain anyway. In less than 10 months using IP.Board I had a PR4... and a MOZ of 5.6. It just goes to show if you throw a few tweaks in to IP.Board you can get good placement in search engines.

Support for any product is always a first on my list... and IPS have certainly showed me they can do this, above and beyond expectations.

#2198947 The best support!

Posted JLogica on 20 November 2011 - 03:24 PM

Just wanted to drop a line to say that although I am a coder being able to access the stellar support provided by Invision saves me a lot of angst. I finally decided that running my personal site on Wordpress (et al) was just too much trouble so now all of my stuff is now running under the various parts of the software built by Invision.

Thanks guys! (oh and of course lovely Debbie)

#2183912 IPB3's Application Framework

Posted Brandon D on 18 October 2011 - 09:37 PM

I think I've made one of these posts before, but I felt another was appropriate with 3.2 now released.

IP.Links was one of the (if not the) first 3rd party application released for IPB 3.0 utilizing not only the new application structure at the time, but also all of the various extensions available to add on applications. It was incredibly easy to integrate my application with IPB3 using these extensions making it feel like it was part of the core product.

Fast forward to today with the release of 3.2, and while I haven't been near as quick to adopt the new features as I was with IPB 3.0, it has been equally as easy to do so. So far I have implemented the "Like" system (note the reputation was already implemented in previous versions), following content, and tagging. Even though there wasn't any documentation (that I could find), I was able to quickly integrate those features by simply looking at the forums application. I look forward to tackling notifications within the next couple days, and from a first glance it seems it too is just a matter of implementing a file and a few lines of code here and there.

Point being, you guys introduced a great framework in IPB3 for modification authors, made only better by the fact that not only do your own 3rd party applications make use of it, but core functionality like the forums do too.

Thank you for taking the time to post this thread... as I'm sure you know...  the good goes unheard most of the time and only the bad seems to gain attention! :)

Nice to see! :)

#2183764 I just want to give a huge THANK YOU to the support staff

I have been with IPB since Ikonbard and during all that time I must say that no other online company has managed to impress me as much as IPB for their professional services and support.

Every ticket I have put was always answered quickly and solved as if I was dealing with high level wizards.

I can t recommend IPS enough to other companies.

Thank you again
