Bingo. Let the software speak for itself - I think the choice is fairly obvious.

#2175994 Bring back the 3.1 standard editor as an option

It's all well and good saying "We know how to use BBCode as we have used it on forum software for years"

But what about new users? I'm currently attracting a lot of forum virgins, and the new editor makes it much more simple for them. I agree that the ability to switch a board to the 3.1 standard non RTE editior would be useful for some communities. But i certainly think the current route IPS is taking is the correct one.
I completely accept that some sites will have a userbase for whom an RTE editor is preferable or even essential. There were problems with the previous RTE editor and so IPS was of course right to look for a solution.

However at the same time there are plenty of sites with users who are experienced in the use of forum software and who simply find an RTE frustrating.

I am not suggesting CKEditor be ditched entirely, nor that IPS try to simultaneously maintain two different rich text editors. I am just asking for the fully-featured 3.1 standard editor to be restored as an option so that those who want to use it can do so. Since that editor is essentially just a textarea with some simple script to handle the insertion of bbcodes, I doubt there would be much ongoing effort required to keep it compatible with evolving browser standards (one of the main reasons given for moving to a third-party editor).

oh... and this:
$this->registry->getClass('output')->buildUrl('blah', 'publicWithApp')
is flat unacceptable....
Never before have i been unwilling to use a codebox.... which is saddening... as without it proper syntax highlighting vanishes.

That's a bug I introduced late Friday when I hot fixed an issue. Keep in mind that we use this forum to test various revisions as we make fixes. What you see here doesn't mean you'll see it in a production release. Test this bug on your own forum and you'll see it doesn't happen.

#2162086 Is it just me or has there been a font change on the IPS website?

This is almost as bad as the comma thread..

Well for a pre sales area the response, (or lack of), from Invision staff speaks volumes.

Maybe also look at IPS hosted options which come with free software  until you get your forum established - you can then move to a bigger plan or to a third party host.

#2155086 I've Had It, I'm finished. 3.2 is awful. I hate it. No more!

Posted rastaX on 16 August 2011 - 10:30 AM

I've had it since final was released, but finally got it up and running and now I'm finished.

My opinion now is 3.2 is awfully good. I hate it when I'm wrong, but my initial feeling about the changes were not positive. No more! Now that I have launched a new community using 3.2 I'm pretty well sold on it.

Congrats IPB, you've managed to turn this stubborn old goat around............ Posted Image

#2152724 Am I able to use an IP.Board license for different website but NOT at the sam...

What I mean is that can I use my 1x IP.B license on SiteA.com, then decide to shut SiteA.com down, and then use the same license with SiteB.com? I think the answer should be yes, but since I see that certain people's sites have "licensed to thisdomain.com" at the end, I wonder if perhaps an IPB license only applies to one actual website.

I recognize that 1x license can only be on ONE site at a time - I am wondering if I can migrate that license to different sites ex. if one fails, create a new one.

Thanks,
Newfive
When you install the board on a different domain, you have to submit your license again.  That overwrites the previous licensing for the old site, which makes the old site an unauthorized URL for your license.

If you transfer your site, you won't be able to get support for the new domain until you update your information in the client center, so it is best to do that straight away.

Because of these type of silly replies ..people becoming terrorists or going to courts. Basically human relations fall down with these type replies.
Adapting to the current environment will cause people to become terrorists?  I've heard of some leaps in logic before, but, just, wow...

#2118053 Domain name when purchasing IP.Board license

Posted Collin S. on 05 June 2011 - 03:50 PM

To change the licensed domain name, simply remove the key from the old install (click ACP remove button) and then re-insert it into the new board.

If the old board is no longer accessible, simply email accounts@invisionpower.com and we can manually reset it.

#2116947 Topic descriptions no more

Posted Amy T on 03 June 2011 - 02:55 PM

This was talked about on the preview. It was removed as it was found very few sites even used it.  I my self hardly used it and I think I mainly used it if the title field was unable to hold the whole title that I wanted to put so part of the title was in the description.

Oh and tags are a must for both navigation and searching so I am very glad those were added. It is a feature I needed more then any other feature that was added to this 3.2

#2117220 The worst thing about 3.2

Posted Rikki on 04 June 2011 - 05:23 AM

Yes, in 3.2, if there's too many menu options, it automatically puts the overflow in a menu for you.
