#2132235 Breadcrumbs
Posted

Please could you consider a change to breadcumbs for pages.
Currently the breadcrumbs is simply
home > page or home > page > page (if the index is shown)
It would be nice (as it is with articles I believe) to have
home > folder > page
with the folder link going to folder/index.php for example.
Or even better, have some way to custom input breadcrumbs within IP.Content
Thanks.

When you print an article (even in the new IP.Board 3.2) it looks horrible. The forum looks like it is getting better on printing but IP.Content is still totally not looking good.
I wonder if IP applications should utilize the Joomla method which is a Print Icon that you can click on that presents a printable page that includes all pages, title and content in an easy to read format instead of all the extra applications people add that print seems to catch.
It would also be nice to do an export to PDF for those that aren't as cool as I am and have a mac which includes this feature without having Adobe.
Anyhow... print is important especially if we are using IP.Content to maintain our documents and instructions for users.

Currently not really, we've discussed this in another thread. It seems (to me and some others) that IPS has invented IP.Content to power their own mainsite and this is static content, made to sell a product. For static pages it's already great out of the box, but when it comes to dynamic content it looks much worse.
I really, really hope that the next major release of IP.Content adds many functions of Joomla, Typo3, Drupal, Contao etc. I mean, I could probably edit and expand IP.Content myself, but a) many others cant b) I would probably get into much trouble if I wanted to update to a new official version later.
There are so many basics that are currently not or just half-hearted in IP.Content such as images in articles, changing the menus via ACP without HTML-knowledge and many, many more things.
On the other hand IP.Content is really powerful if you know what you're doing. It's just that I don't want to expand the system on my own too much, regarding core-functionality.
Well, I have time and I hope to be able to use IP.Content for my next big project, as with the last my users were struggling heavily.

#2073233 IP.Tracker 2.0.0 Released
Posted
IPS News
on 26 January 2011 - 05:33 PM
IP.Tracker is our free project management system for IP.Board, allowing you to powerfully manage projects and tasks within your community.
New Features
- Overhauled Admin CP and tweaked front-end interfaces.
- Deeper integration with IP.Board, making use of the like and notification systems.
- Tracker Modules and Fields, powerful new options for dealing with statuses, severities and versions.
- Powerful permission system allowing you to fine-tune access to certain Tracker features.
- New version system giving you complete control over a projects versions.
- Highly extensible for third-party developers.
Downloading
IP.Tracker is available for free to all active IP.Board license holders, and is available directly from the IPS Marketplace.
Once downloaded, extract the zip archive and upload the contents of the /upload folder directly to your IP.Board's root folder. Visit your Admin CP and navigate to 'Manage Applications & Modules'. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find "IPS Add On / IP.Tracker", click install and let it run through the installation routine.
Upgrading from a previous release
If upgrading, you must visit http://yourforums.com/admin/upgrade/. IP.Board will not show IP.Tracker as having an available upgrade through the usual Admin CP, you must visit the upgrade URL!
Due to the nature of the upgrade, and in particular the new versions and permission systems, there are some notes regarding upgrades.
- IP.Tracker will scan the issues table for all versions that have ever been in use, and record them in the new versions system. Versions that were not in use at the time of you upgrading will be marked as 'locked', current versions will be marked as open. It is advised that you check the versions for each project and decide what to do with the old 'locked' versions.
- Similarly, the new field system has a powerful permission manager at its core which statuses, versions, and severity all make use of. Upon the completion of the upgrade, IP.Tracker will automatically fill in permissions for each project so that administrators can perform all tasks for each field, but again it is advised for you to manually go through these and fine-tune them to your needs.
- Upon completion of the upgrade, please visit the IP.Tracker Admin CP -> Useful Tools, and rebuild all caches. The upgrade will then be complete.
IPS Extras Support Note
As one of our "IPS extraa" products, IP.Tracker does not have ticket or phone support and does not include install/upgrade service. Please use the IPS Extras forum for support or feedback as appropriate.
- IP.Tracker requires at least IP.Board 3.1.4 and will not install on prior versions.
- If upgrading from a previous release, please visit the project management area in the Admin CP and check each projects 'fields' permissions, setting them to what you need.
- If upgrading from a previous release, please check each projects versions. IP.Tracker will automatically convert versions to the new system, but will also add older versions that are no longer used (marking them as closed). It is advised that you check the project versions and remove any you do not need.
- If upgrading, you must visit http://yourforums.com/admin/upgrade/. IP.Board will not show IP.Tracker as having an available upgrade through the usual Admin CP, you must visit the upgrade URL!

#1998717 Enhancements to IPS Support and Services

Easier Documentation Search
In response to customer feedback we have enhanced our documentation search system to search our official documentation, community-submitted articles, and resource downloads all at once.
Read the full information on search changes...
This change should allow you to more easily search all the various resources available to you as an IPS Community Suite user.
Try new documentation search now...
Reorganization of Documentation
We have a lot of great information in our documentation but it is often difficult to find as it is spread out into so many articles. As an example, Sphinx search setup alone has three separate articles explaining search settings, setting up Sphinx, and troubleshooting Sphinx. Using this example, we are working on merging all these various articles into one "everything you need to know about Sphinx" article and will be doing this with other articles as well. Another example may be the System Settings overview: rather than 10 mini-articles on settings you will now have one, comprehensive article to read.
This change does mean we will have to eliminate the current IP.Board option of the in-line AdminCP article view but we believe eliminating that one option in return for overall more comprehensive and easier to read documentation is one that will benefit everyone.
These changes will take place over the next several weeks as we merge things and add in more documentation content.
Official Support on Company Community
For years IPS has only offered official support through our support ticket system but today that finally changes. We are renaming the Peer-to-Peer Technical Support forums and will begin having IPS Staff monitor those forums and provide official support responses right here on the IPS Company Community.
Having forum support will be a great benefit to all IPS Community Suite users as it allows everyone to engage each other to help in a group effort. We have an amazing customer-community here at IPS and between customers helping each other and the addition of IPS Staff assisting in forum questions we believe that the overall support experience will greatly improve for all.
Guaranteed support will still only be offered in tickets and we may still ask you to submit a ticket if, for example, we need to login to your community to diagnose a problem. Forum support will be available to anyone with an active support service for IP.Board or the applications.
Community Hosting Improvements
We are making several large changes to our community hosting services which will benefit all new and existing customers of IPS community hosting.
- All new account orders will have the IPS Community Suite software included in the packages automatically installed.
- We are introducing a new Starter plan at just $4.99 per month for those just getting started in online communities.
- The current $5 per month add-on package that includes IP.Content and incoming email will be changed to offer both IP.Content and IP.Nexus (when it is released) and will be available on all packages excluding the Starter plan.
- Incoming email will now be a feature of all packages.
These changes will be applied to all existing customers on the package types listed on our web site and all new orders as well. If you are on an older package that is no longer offered on our web site your services will remain unchanged.
We are also discontinuing traditional web site hosting so that we may better focus on our core expertise of community services. If you are currently on a traditional web site hosting package your service will remain unchanged.
All of these changes will be phased in over the next few weeks.
Everyone at IPS hopes you enjoy these new changes and enhancements to our support and services!
#1865855 Suggestion - Easier way to add and manage tabular data
Posted

Could we get another field type for table data?
The only way to add tables is to have HTML in either a WYSIWYG Editor or Text area field. Having this open to everyone could have security issues.
What I purpose is a field that would act like a table but not show any of the HTML involved to the user / admin.
In the admin section you would list your table header info for you columns.
When the end user adds a record that has this field, they will see something kind of like how polls are handled on the forums.
Each section would represent one row and each text area within the section representing a column (based on what is set in the admin)
There would be a button (like polls) to add or remove another row.
Here is an image to help:

Sure, it's not very customizable, but it's easy to set up and it gets the job done. I'm not exactly sure how much work it would take to include a table BBCode such as this, but I, and probably plenty of other people as well, think this would be a very worthwhile idea to at least consider.

Please perform a hard refresh / delete any browser caches to ensure the very latest JS and CSS is retrieved by your browser. If you experience any JS errors or 'missing' features, it is likely to be a stale browser cache.
This update brings numerous fixes and a few additions:
- Colour picker on 'Background Color' field in the User's CP.

- Collapsable side bar blocks

- Topic preview pop-up displays the first match when searching

We have received a lot of feedback about the notifications system and this is very much on our list to improve.

- Fixes to the search engine
- Fixes to the active content display
- Fixes to the view new content display
- Fixed the "Type of view new content" user preference
- Fixes the "refresh to increment" bug in shared links
- Adds the ability to remove status import (which we have done on this board).
Please note that there are still several other bug fixes and improvements that are still being worked on. I know that View New Content is still returning a few 'read' items and this will be improved in a near-future update.
We have also reverted back to SQL searching to test this out more thoroughly.
#1931879 Feature suggestion. Database Search highlighting and improvements

Some search improvements suggestions for IP. Content 2.0
1. Search highlighting for custom database
It would be very nice if you can implement Search highlighting in custom databases for IP. Content 2.0
I guess that something like this would be great.
It would be nice if the search term is highlighted not only in the search results but within the article itself.
So, when I open the article I can see the term I search highlighted.
2. Search in selected databases or in all databases
It would be nice if I can search in all my custom databases or in selected databases only. Not sure if this is possible at all.
Maybe there should be a search plugin that when I create it I can choose which databases to search in.
3. More than one filter for search per custom database
Maybe in some of the next versions there could be an option for putting more than one custom filters for search.
For example, for my articles database I might need to search not only by keyword but also by publishing date
etc. or by keyword, publishing interval and author (custom field)
1) Terms will be highlighted in the search results already, since we're using the central search routine. I will take a look at highlighting terms on the article/database record display itself as well today. I agree, that would be useful.
2) We can't search in all databases at the same time I'm afraid. Technologically, it's very challenging, and resource usage is a factor we have to consider. That said, you will be able to select which database to use from the central search form, and switch to other databases easily from the results page, making it less of a chore to search each database.
3) Interesting idea. I'm not sure how limiting the new IPB 3.1 search feature is. I will keep this in mind for IP.Content 2.1 and beyond in any event.
