#2116020 Welcome to IP.Board 3.2.0!

Posted IPS News on 02 June 2011 - 10:01 AM

We have upgraded the IPS Community to IP.Board 3.2.0!

This is the first step in the testing process for IP.Board 3.2.0's upcoming release. We will be testing the new version here for several weeks and working on fixing issues with the goal of our first public beta release being as stable as it can be.

Please look around and help us in testing by submitting reports to our bug tracker so we can all work together to create a stable release. Keep in mind that our applications - IP.Gallery, IP.Blog, IP.Calendar, IP.Chat, IP.Downloads, and IP.Content - have also all been updated to be compatible with IP.Board 3.2 so please also test those. Your help is greatly appreciated!

You may wish to review the What's New in IP.Board 3.2 topic for information on the exciting changes in IP.Board 3.2.

Downloading IP.Board 3.2.0

IP.Board 3.2.0 is not yet available for download.

We are using it here on our company forums both as a preview for feedback and to identify any possible issues before release. Before a final release we will be testing it here on our company forums for a few weeks and then posting betas for download for all active license holders and invite you to participate in the beta testing process when we reach that milestone. When the final, supported release is made available we will make an announcement here.

Ofc, if you must spend $75 on a perfect "buy" system, pay it, but for peoples who dont have so much,
and maybe wanna sell somethin, or just have subscriptions by IP.subscriptions witch wont be supported by IPS after 3.2, and therefor wont be awesome..and that part makes me sad :(

But, its whats ever for me, i use paypal as subscription....but, its so unprofessional! Well, im not saying they have to, its a suggestion, and they maybe earn more :)

Well, the not supporting IP.Subs is a different topic.  But really, if you "wanna sell somethin" or "have subscriptions" then you will be earning money.  Money which you can use to buy resources to continue selling stuff.  Resources like IP.Nexus.

I'm sorry, but I just don't know what you're getting at.  You're wanting to sell stuff, and you're saying that you can't afford to set aside some of the sales to pay for the software that lets you sell stuff?  Mate, that's the cost of doing business.  It costs me personally thousands a year to subsidise my company's operations, and you're complaining about a ~$25 difference?  Mind-boggling.

#2079256 THIS SUCKS! Not getting any help!

Hello David,

I've just had a look at your ticket history, and see that your server transfer request ticket is less than 20 hours old, in which time you and our support team have made around 20 responses.

Our server transfers department has less staff managing it than general support or sales, due to the complex nature of the task. As a result, these requests can take longer than most to deal with, but your ticket is well within our defined standards of service. With that being said, I'd expect that someone should hopefully be able to get to your request today.

Please note that whilst we do not encourage it, multiple responses to tickets do not push them to the end of the queue. We deal with all requests in the order that they are received.

I'll close this topic now, as it is not IP.Board feedback. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

#2076327 Does InvisionPower.com still use IP.Content?

Posted Rikki on 03 February 2011 - 05:51 PM

Yeah - the entire site is running on IP.Content :)

The vast majority of sections on the site are just simple pages. We have a master Page Template which all pages use (which in turn includes the CSS files we use, and also a block for the menu system [which is hand-rolled using PHP inside the block]). Each section of the site is a folder (e.g. /suite/, /products/, /demo/ etc.) with pages inside of it.

We have some 'special' blocks that have raw PHP in them, for things like the demo sign up form and the contact forms. They're still running in IP.Content, but do custom things like sending emails - they show the form on first load, and when the form is submitted, the same block does whatever is needed to process it, and send the user back to the original page.

The support section is actually running from a separate IP.Content installation on this forum. That makes use of the Database feature (though we could update it to use the Articles feature now). Instead of listing the categories like the default database template does, we instead show some blocks which pull in most popular articles, newest articles etc, which helps it to feel more 'articlely' (I made that word up!).

The third section is the client area, which is running on entirely separate software, and doesn't tie in to IP.Content (we just copy our templates across as needed).

If you have any specific questions on how certain things have been achieved, please feel free to ask, I'd be happy to explain it in more detail if it helps people get to grips with it :)

I know that I grumble once in awhile, but it's time to give credit where it's due. IPS has great products and great support personnel. This latest board (3.0.5) is just incredible and the ACP has been redesigned for ease of use, even with a bunch of new features. The IPS support staff (I know I'll leave somebody out) - Josh, Jason, Michael, Mark, Matt, bfarber(Brandon?), Charles, Debbie, and others are the best you can get. A sincere thanks!

#1873977 How fast - if I buy right now?

If i put my order in right now - would the CC get processed and I would have instant access to the download? I just want to know so I can plan the rest of the weekend.
