#2271108 Invoice creation - changes needed for german users

Posted Matt on Today, 12:57 PM

View PostBlink3r, on 24 May 2012 - 06:52 PM, said:

Guys, you are all right, booth american and german users. The problem is that in Germany, Italy, UK, and maybe some other European countries, there is not a concept of "invoices", instead, we use somehow a "proof of payment", something that should be generated if and only if the user had REALLY payed.

I've worked in several businesses and we've always issued an invoice when the work was completed. We'd just stamp the invoice with a 'Paid' stamp when payment was made.

I also deal with many UK online companies and the workflow is the same:

I select goods into a cart.
I 'checkout' - this creates the invoice.
I make a payment
The invoice states 'paid'.

#2270082 License Structure Changes: The Formula

Posted Charles on 23 May 2012 - 11:11 AM

Reference our blog entry this topic is referring to...

This topic explains the formula we are using to calculate the renewal dates when we change the license structure. For general feedback or questions on the license structure as a whole please create a new topic.

Here are examples on how we would recalculate renewal dates and such.

Standard License with apps
  • IP.Board Standard License expiring 1 June 2012
    • IP.Gallery expiring 1 July 2012
    • IP.Blog already expired
IP.Board has a 6 month renewal rate of $25 and Gallery has a renewal rate of $10. This means that if IP.Board's days are worth 1 then IP.Gallery's days are worth 0.4 ($10 / $25). Assume today is 15 May 2012 so IP.Board has 15 days of credit and IP.Gallery has 45 days.

So now we have to calculate the equivalent days. We do IP.Gallery's 45 days * 0.4 = 18 days equivalent credit to IP.Board. It is 15 days between today (15 May) and IP.Board's expiration (1 June) so therefore we have 15 + 18 = 33 days of credit to work with.

Next we have to sort out how to apply those 33 days of credit. We are altering the renewal dates of IP.Board at a factor of 1 and IP.Gallery at a factor of 0.4 so 1.4 days of credit to keep everything active. Taking 33 / 1.4 gives us 23.57 (24) days of credit from today's date. So this results in 24 days from today (15 May):
  • IPS Community Suite
    • IP.Board new expiration of 9 June 2012
    • IP.Gallery new expiration of 9 June 2012
    • IP.Blog remains expired
Another example:
  • IP.Board Standard License expiring 1 June 2012
    • IP.Nexus expiring 1 July 2012
This case is a bit different as IP.Nexus has a higher renewal rate ($35) than IP.Board so the weight is 1.4. However, the formula is the same:

IP.Nexus 45 days * 1.4 = 63 days resulting in 78 days of credit from today (15 May). Again adding in the weights gives us 2.4 so we then do 78 / 2.4 = 32.5 (33) days of credit:
  • IPS Community Suite
    • IP.Board new expiration of 18 June 2012
    • IP.Gallery new expiration of 18 June 2012
    • IP.Blog remains expired
Business License

For business licenses we will add in a new package type called "Priority Support and Service" or similar that will be an addon package to the Suite license.

Legacy Licenses

Lifetime license will change to:
  • IPS Community Suite
    • IP.Board (Legacy: lifetime license - no extra services - ticket support included) No Expiration
If a Lifetime license holder as addons they will be recalculated using the same formula.

Perpetual license will change to:
  • IPS Community Suite
    • IP.Board (Legacy: perpetual license - no extra services - ticket support available on renewal) Expiration date caries over using same formula
IP.Board/Gallery/Blog bundle will change to:
  • IPS Community Suite
    • IP.Board with current expiration date
    • IP.Gallery with no expiration
    • IP.Blog with no expiration
General renewals and new purchases

IP.Nexus 1.5 supports prorating purchases so when you add/renew a new application on the Suite your price paid will be prorated so renewal dates remain the same.

You will still be able to cancel renewals on specific products so, as an example, you bought IP.Gallery but decided after a while you didn't use it you can cancel that renewal yourself or reactivate it later if you change your mind.

#2270099 IP.Tracker, please IPS...

Just a quick question to the new devs:

How long (you think) you/the team will need to fix all open bugs? We still have at this moment 50x General, 2x Skin, 12x Minimal and 10x Unconfirmed open tracker entrys and (for now with a team of 5 devs) it does not done much at the tracker... I had hoped for more from the "new team"...
We've also fixed over 20 bugs so far and confirmed/investigated countless bug reports, which isn't bad going. Many of the team have been studying hard for exams to further their own careers.

Please also remember that Tracker is a rather complex system behind the scenes.

#2250476 bring the TAB back

That's an easy one.. if you are typing in anything in ckeditor that requires a tab the old approach tabbed out of the editor.   Our heavy programmer-laden forum is chock full of people writing code blocks that necessitate the tab key.   For an editor, it should absolutely be there.

Speaking as a programmer myself, I would rather it went back to the old way.  I don't write code in this editor, I paste code from other sources here that already have tabs in them.  Even if your statement meant to imply that all programmers like the tab key doing the opposite of what browsers design it to do, not everyone who uses IP.Board is a programmer.  I'd hate to see IPS get into any issues over the accessibility problems this change causes.

I find myself having to use the old editor most of the time because frankly I think a lot of the things like this tab functionality regression to be a pain with this new editor.  It's just a shame that switching back to the old editor makes us lose all of the buttons.  I'd at least like to be able to insert bbcode as actual bbcode tags by clicking a button rather than have to type them out all of the time, but I have to type them, because the CKEditor makes things too cumbersome.

The problem is that you then lose the ability to TAB text in the text editor.

If you really want to tab out, then:

/public/js/3rd_party/ckeditor/ips_config.js

Comment out

config.tabSpaces = 4;

We never had that option before, why was it added now?  Tabbing between locations on a web page is standard accessibility functionality, and should be restored.

#2240762 bring the TAB back

Posted Baby Jai on 14 March 2012 - 06:38 PM

please if there is a way to bring the TAB back in.  When you post a reply or a topic in the text box and hit tab it does nothing.                 Please make it so it goes to post topic or reply or something, I loved this feature however I do love the new box to type in, but the TAB outweighs it.

>.< Actually really really would like to see something... anything in defense/response/updates from him... why do you think we are all so anxious/distressed about this App?

His response is likely to be far less glamorous or insightful than you are expecting, I suspect.  Alex does a lot of work for us already, and Tracker is something he maintains in his spare time outside of the work he does for us.  I believe he was recently working through a lot of school work and exams, and just hadn't had much time to work on Tracker.

I know this doesn't help any, but I don't think a response or excuse is really what anyone wants to hear.  I don't want to promise or say anything that we can't or don't actually deliver on, so that is why you're not getting more information in this thread yet.  Once we have determined internally the best way forward, I'm positive one of us will let you guys know our plans.

I always feel integration is key, things like tracker should already be provided in IP.Board. Same thing for referrals and basic necessities that free forum software have.

Perhaps not the way it is designed where it is an extra tab. I can give you several examples of several forum software that do this. I just don't want to get in trouble for linking sites. Obviously you guys do it the best, but I'm just expressing that slacking just because you can is like saying: why go beyond our competitors and make ourselves that much better?

Not trying to start a rant here, waiting on it should be fine and dandy.

I am positive our competitors have bug tracking software installed - most software development companies do.  What I meant was, I don't think our primary competitors offer an off-the-shelf for-sale or freeware issue tracker application internally.

Does anyone know if it works in 3.3? Just wondering.

We use it here, and we are running 3.3.

At the end of this all, we have taken your comments into account and are discussing the best way forward.  Once we have decided what that path is, we will let you know.

Look at the top left corner of the active element in the drop down menu. Would be more fluid if the menu was 1px lower, to make if flow with the bottom line of #primary_nav.

Is it really useful? Why not right click and choose "Copy Link" (or whatever your Browser/OS uses for this choice)?

As we are testing 3.3 and regularly updating our forum, the skin customization that adds the bar you reference was removed (we had to revert our template) and will be added back in due course.
