Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry.
You will be able to see the source code in the self-hosting downloadable product on the majority of our products except IP.Nexus.
However to be honest you should not need to make any code changes.
You can edit the look and feel of your community by editing the large number of templates and CSS from within the admin control panel (ACP) and in addition there are many hook points for extending the capabilities of the product.
In fact all the mods and hooks available in our marketplace at http://community.inv...ower.com/files/ require no code edits and can be used (subject to resources) on our hosted platform which is fully encrypted.

If your friend requires support, please ask them to log into their client area at http://www.invisionpower.com/clients and submit a ticket to my colleagues in support.
