#2326464 Request: Show user which Anti-Fraud rule blocked their purchase

Posted by jwdenzel on 29 October 2012 - 04:46 PM

I have Nexus' anti-fraud rules enabled.  Some users have emailed me saying they don't know why their purchase is being blocked.  Once I inform them of the reason (ie, an invalid billing address), they say "Ahhh", and handle it as appropriate.

My request is that when a user receives the error saying something like "Your purchase did not pass out Anti-Fraud rules".... please be more specific as to why it failed.

Thoughts?

#2322639 Need improved Search function

Posted by jwdenzel on 19 October 2012 - 01:41 PM

The overall ability to search for products in IP Nexus is not working very well.   Don't get me wrong: it "works", but the results tend to be difficult to digest.  I have a large store (nearly 3,000 products, both physical and non), and trying to find anything using the search functionality is difficult at best.

I am using Sphinx search, and all my cron jobs and .conf files are working fine.

Experiment

Here's an experiment you can try for yourself.  The goal is to find an ebook entitled "Into the Darkness" by author Harry Turtledove.

  1. Go to my storefront:  http://www.dragonmount.com/Store
  2. Search on any term you like.  Examples:  "Into the Darkness" or "Harry Turtledove" or "Into the Darkness Harry Turtledove" or "Darkness Turtledove"
  3. Searching for "Into the Darkness" results in the item being shown at the bottom of a long list of products
  4. Searching for "Harry Turtledove" results in the item being shown at the bottom of a long list of products, some of which are barely related to the key words
  5. Searching for "Into the Darkness Harry Turtledove" results in NO results
  6. Searching for "Darkness Turtledove" results in NO results

Is there any way that the search function can prioritize the product name over the description?  How about returning result sets that don't show the ENTIRE description? (That gets huge and cumbersome).  Probably better just to return the product name and the first few lines from the description.

Thanks

#2310927 Praise for Nexus

Posted by jwdenzel on 20 September 2012 - 05:57 PM

I spend a lot of time on this Nexus forum these days, usually asking for features and pointing out bugs.  But I think it's worth being said that IP.Nexus has been an incredible tool for my website.   Yes, it has defects, and yes I've had to create complex custom scripts to get it to do what I need... but at the end of the day, I love this product and it's already paid for itself and then some.

The strongest features it has, IMO, are the support for a wide variety of gateways (Stripe.com in particular is awesome!), the very good support ticket system, and the very good invoice managing, approval, refunding, and package tracking system.  Outstanding stuff.   Oh, and my favorite... the ability to sell IP.Download files!

Thank you, IPS, for working so hard on this product.  For only being version 1.5, you've done a great job.

(... now get back to work on 2.0, and be sure to implement all my requests!!)

#2310017 Two installations of Nexus?

Posted by jwdenzel on 18 September 2012 - 01:40 PM

Agreed. IP.Nexus is an internet-based storefront.  I am selling to people all over the world. I need to be able to specify different price amounts for different regions and currencies.

It doesn't even need to be based on IP address or anything. You can just base it off the country and region they specify in their billing info.

Ah!  I missed that setting. Perfect. Thank you, Creaky.  Cheers!

#2305865 How to feature an image on Facebook?

Posted by jwdenzel on 06 September 2012 - 05:29 PM

Need some help.

Currently, when I paste the URL for a Nexus store item into Facebook, the image that gets shown is a generic IPB "meta" image.  See attached screenshot.

ScreenShot172.jpg

How do I make it so that the image is the Nexus product image instead?

FYI: I know this can be done because if you post an IP.Content article into facebook, it uses the "article image" instead.

IS there some way to flag the Nexus product image so that Facebook will pick up on it?

Jason

#2304914 Request: Allow for pre-orders

Posted by jwdenzel on 04 September 2012 - 04:02 PM

I would love if IP.Nexus could allow visitors to pre-order items.

The admin should specify if an item can be pre-ordered.  Include the release date, and maybe even a "email the buyer when it becomes available"

If you agree, please LIKE or comment below.

Thanks

#2302223 Anybody else want an upgraded Storefront?

Posted by jwdenzel on 28 August 2012 - 01:28 PM

Consider this a respectable request to update the default IP Nexus Storefront.  I would love the storefront to have some more sizzle.  Currently we can "Feature" items, which is a great start.  But I would love to have a front-end that did a better job of drawing customer's into the store.

I'm not a professional designer, so I don't have a lot of specific suggestions. But starting with something more similar to the IP Gallery front page might be a start. ?

Chime in on the comments if you agree and would like to see some advancement here.

Thanks

#2294516 Request: Obfuscate the file name when uploading via Bulk Admin

Posted by jwdenzel on 06 August 2012 - 06:08 PM

This is a request to obfuscate the file name(s) being uploaded when using the Bulk Admin tool.

Thanks!

#2288733 Bulk Management of files

Posted by jwdenzel on 19 July 2012 - 08:54 AM

Seems like IP.Downloads hasn't been updated in a while and maybe it needs some love to work with larger communities?

I know we already have a bulk import tool, which is great.  But I'm finding it difficult to manage large numbers of files. If I have, say, over 2,500 files uploaded, and I need to change meta-data for them... or even delete large numbers of them, I am unable to do so with ease.

Any advice?

#2288725 Requesting a Nexus import script!

Posted by jwdenzel on 19 July 2012 - 08:46 AM

My online store is growing fast. Very soon I'll be selling 2,500+ products. There's no way I can manually add all of those through the existing interface in this century ;-)

I would love if there was at least some kind of Bulk tools for importing large amounts of records.

In fact, I wrote a custom perl script to do this, but doing such things kinda terrifies me, and there'sno guarantee it will work in versions going forward.  I'd much prefer if you guys had one!

#2279243 Product ID

Posted by jwdenzel on 19 June 2012 - 04:27 PM

Completely agree.
Also, those Product ID's should be something we specify. (ie, model #, ISBN, etc)

#2051136 Suggestion: Add product code field

Posted by jwdenzel on 02 December 2010 - 07:59 PM

This is a simple request to add a Product Code field for each package.   This way, you can more easily identify your products by model number, serial number, or whatever rather than their descriptive name.

For example: Instead of only identifying the package on an invoice as "Stupid Green Shirt, $10",  I would get something that said:  "tshirt-56, option: green"

This is just a minor thing to help organize my life.  ZenCart offers this feature, and it was very handy to have.

Thanks!

#2037963 Request: Banner ad campaign dates

Posted by jwdenzel on 04 November 2010 - 12:12 PM

Currently in Nexus 1.0.0, you can have a banner ad campaign run for a certain amount of impressions or clicks.  But I would like to request there be an option to have banner ads run from a specific start date to end date.
