#1902528 IP.Board 2.3.6 and Related Applications: end of life announcement

Posted IPS News on 22 January 2010 - 10:02 AM

IP.Board 3 was released on June 25, 2009 and through the various update cycles is now a stable, mature product with a version 3.1 release forthcoming.

So that we can focus all of our development, support, and service efforts on our new version 3 platform, we are announcing the end of support (sometimes called end of life or EOL) for the following IPS software versions (and earlier versions than those listed):

  • IP.Board 2.3.6
  • IP.Blog 1.4.2
  • IP.Gallery 2.2.4
  • IP.Downloads 1.2.2

Technical support, installations, and related services will end for these products on July 1, 2010. On that date all technical or service requests will be advised to simply upgrade to the most recent versions of the products. We will not force upgrades but will also not be able to diagnose issues or answer questions relating to the older software. Also, on that date, IPS will no longer address any new issues or bugs reported in the older software versions.

Security Updates

In the event an issue is discovered impacting the security of these older versions of the software, IPS will provide a patch posted in our announcements forum. We will continue to provide security updates until January 1, 2011.

Hello, well, since we pay 50 or 60 for Gallery, i think The Gallery should have MORE options, maybe make it more hmm,
1337'er! Professional!

Because the one IPb has now are so OLD, same view, same options etc etc etc!! same same! make some NEW stuff!

Thats my thought, i have to redesign the Image View so it got more attractive! but the codes are so, hmm ALL over the place, cant find anything!

Last 5+1 words:

Make It Attractive & Pro!

#1839371 Community Content System VS Others..?

Posted Ditchmonkey on 06 August 2009 - 01:39 PM

The holy grail of community-centric CMS systems is the total integration of community and content. Poorly integrated systems like Joomla/Wordpress/Drupal with IPS/Vbulletin etc is inevitably a technological dead-end. I have wasted my time with many iterations of these integrations and inevitably every one of them gets abandonded.

CCS will probably be thin on features in the short term but ultimately it will be the only solution that makes sense over the long term - a fully integrated CMS/forum.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on Joomla too. What a POS that is. The admin is a nightmare and when I worked with it last year I found that it had a lot of bugs. Drupal is really a better CMS and I've been using Expression Engine which is very nice for certain kinds of sites.

#1839558 Invision Power Board 3.0.2 Released

Posted IPS News on 06 August 2009 - 05:25 PM

Some customers are reporting various functionality in IP.Board not working since upgrading to version 3.0.2. We have narrowed down most of these causes to one root issue which came up as we tightened security for certain functions. If you are experiencing issues with 3.0.2, please download the attached file and upload the new files. If you are not experiencing any issues (or you have not already upgraded to 3.0.2) there is no need to upload these files. Also, if you download version 3.0.2 after the time of this post you already have the updates in your download zip file.

Our apologies for the frustration this has caused some customers. We do quality assurance testing before releasing maintenance versions but these specific issues do not present themselves except under special circumstances.

Apply new files if you see any of these issues in 3.0.2:

  • Emoticons and some other JavaScript functions not functioning
  • Rich text editor disabled in some browsers
  • Spam service database table not being created properly
  • Error when deleting a post
  • Users with certain character sets seeing debug information on upgrade

If you experience any other issues or need help feel free to submit a support ticket for assistance.
