#2139250 IPS Marketplace - Version Compatibility Filter

This is a limitation of the IP.Downloads software at present.  To be able to filter on version number, we would need to add custom-field filtering in the search.  It's something we're considering for a future version.
Please do. It would be quite helpful here, and I imagine in other Downloads installations as well.

At the very least, it should not hide 90% of each popup that the ACP generates.

#1955031 Intergration with IP.Gallery

Posted BvZ on 18 May 2010 - 01:59 PM

I would love to see some form of intergration with IP.Gallery. where people could buy the large source/original files of photographs  /  images.

And it would also be nice to have a option to sell photo prints from IP.Gallery.

#2079256 THIS SUCKS! Not getting any help!

Posted Dan on 11 February 2011 - 06:07 PM

Hello David,

I've just had a look at your ticket history, and see that your server transfer request ticket is less than 20 hours old, in which time you and our support team have made around 20 responses.

Our server transfers department has less staff managing it than general support or sales, due to the complex nature of the task. As a result, these requests can take longer than most to deal with, but your ticket is well within our defined standards of service. With that being said, I'd expect that someone should hopefully be able to get to your request today.

Please note that whilst we do not encourage it, multiple responses to tickets do not push them to the end of the queue. We deal with all requests in the order that they are received.

I'll close this topic now, as it is not IP.Board feedback. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

#2069988 Please clean up obsolete files

Posted chuckf on 19 January 2011 - 10:28 AM

Can you guys clean up obsolete files when you install new versions?

For example, I just installed Download Manager 2.3.1 over the top of an older version.  The admin/applications_addon/ips/downloads/modules_public/ajax folder on my site has a comments.php file in it but that file is not in the 2.3.1 zip file.  There are several other old DM files on my site.

I ran into the same problem with an add-on I wrote.  I used the version_upgrade.php file to delete my obsolete files.  Can you guys do the same or something similar?

I am also annoyed at the amount of paid mods that there are in the IP Marketplace now all made by people I have never heard of, even the Marketplace is now getting bloated and everything spread all over the place.
I don't believe I've ever heard someone complain about there being too many modifications before.

#2052920 IP.Downloads 2.3.0 and IP.Nexus 1.0.3 Released

Posted IPS News on 07 December 2010 - 10:15 AM

Invision Power Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of IP.Downloads 2.3.0!

Improved Notifications: Notifications have been greatly improved in IP.Downloads 2.3.

As of IP.Downloads 2.3, users can be notified of:

  • New comments to files
  • New file updates
  • New files in categories
  • Broken file reports for their own files
  • File acceptance/denial by a moderator

Moderators can be notified of:

  • New files pending approval
  • Broken file reports

Liking Files: The new 'Like' system from IP.Board has been implemented into IP.Downloads 2.3, consolidating favorite and watch functionality using the central Like feature of IP.Board.

Improved Comments: The new 'Comments' system from IP.Board has been implemented into IP.Downloads 2.3, improving the general user experience when reading and interacting with comments, as well as improving the moderator experience managing comments.

Search Improvements: Support for searching through Sphinx has been added to IP.Downloads 2.3, and for those not using Sphinx, proper MySQL fulltext search support has been added to IP.Downloads. The search results interface has been overhauled to provide more information, and some new filtering and ordering options have been added to the advanced search form for IP.Downloads.

Sharing and Facebook: The IP.Board share strip has been added to IP.Download files, as has the Facebook Like plugin (for those utilizing Facebook integration).

Custom Field Formatting: You can now define how to format custom fields when displayed on the file information page. This allows you to force fields that should contain a link to be hyperlinked, or to show an image based on a selection in dropdown, for example.

View Downloaders: You can now allow users on the public side on a per-group basis the ability to view who has downloaded each file.

Better Submission Control: Users can now specify which screenshot they submit is the "master" or "primary" screenshot. Users can now supply a file version number and a changelog for their submissions. Screenshots will now be cropped to a square size, rather than a proportionally downsized image.

Changelog/Version Support: The file number and changelog submitted with files is backed up with each version, so users can view a full changelog of each file (when the submitter provides this information).

Downloads Portal: A new (optional) homepage has been added acting as a portal to your IP.Downloads installation. You can quickly see what's new, what's popular, any featured files, top downloaded files (or, when using IP.Nexus integration, top free and top paid files), and much more.

Overhauled Interface: The interface for IP.Downloads has been overhauled from top to bottom, providing for a much cleaner and sleeker experience.

Moderator Options: Files can now be featured (one file at a time) - the featured file is shown on the downloads portal. Files can now also be pinned and unpinned. Better indications are shown for

Miscellaneous: You can mark all categories as read from the IP.Downloads index page; you can now control on a per-group basis who is able to report files; you can now ban individual users from submitting files. That is your opinion, ours is different. I don't argue about him not getting rich, I argue about having to pay double and tripple the price of what really should be basic functionality.
Hell, I didn't even think that there is any paid-forums-software (when every free one I ever came across has this feature) out there that hasn't got prefixes, that's why I bought IPB although it misses some basic stuff I've never thought of :(

20$ is much money for me and it's simply in no relation to IPB which is only 150$. Maybe if some really good mods weren't that expensive modders could sell many more copies?! I donno, but 20$ is too much for such a basic (!) feature.
And there are hundreds of people that would argue that this has no business being a basic feature.  You want it for your own use, so that's skewing your view about how important it really is for everyone.  Yes, several people in this topic say they want it too, but that's because people will show support for ideas they agree with more than they will come into a topic saying they don't want it.  Chalk me up as one person who would be just fine if this never gets added, I don't see any point in it.

If you think $20 for a mod is too much because the basic forum software only costs $150, remember that modders are doing handfuls of sales, while IPS has thousands of customers.  If you factor in how much time it takes to develop, test, document, support, etc. a mod, most mod authors make far less than minimum wage for their efforts.

#1986752 License Transfers

Posted Lindy on 13 July 2010 - 07:10 PM

This is heading in a downward spiral very quickly. :)

I think most know that we appreciate and take as much as customer feedback on board as possible -- many (if not most) of the changes you see within the software and the company are customer feedback driven. There are some things, however, we just aren't willing to consider and license transfers are most definitely one of the select few.

1. As noted, almost all end in some type of fraudulent nightmare and/or a headache for the administrative staff.
2. The majority don't renew or purchase additional products/services. To be honest, there's little incentive to dealing with chargebacks, threats of legal action, the same license being sold multiple times, etc.
3. We do not allow them currently, however, we get at LEAST a dozen inquiries per week that require several hours of administrative overhead "dealing" with "XYZ sold me a license and defrauded me."

We recognize that some companies allow this type of thing. On the other hand, many don't. Believe me when I say we've looked at every single angle and we've concluded it's not worthwhile to allow them again. Sorry for any inconvenience this poses.

I'm going to close this as the topic has degenerated into a flame-fest and not much is going to come from this dead horse. Again, we do try to make as many customer requested changes as possible, but ... I'm afraid this one is closed for discussion. :)

Thanks for understanding.

#1963763 IP.Board 3.1.0 and Applications Released

I have put together a patch zip which resolves the following issues:

  • Multiple "5030" error message emails
  • (Safe Mode Enabled) Missing language strings from the ACP
  • (oAuth PECL extensions) Twitter 'cannot redeclare class' / blank page issue
  • (Non CURL) Twitter log in returns to log in form
  • (Non .htaccess FURL) Gallery FURLs not working correctly.
  • (Non .htaccess FURL) Facebook LIKE button incorrectly 'liking' root URL

The main download zips have been updated at the time of this post. If you are not affected by any of these issues then you do not need to apply the patch.

#1889427 Invision Power Services Are Rip Offs & Thefs

Posted Lindy on 17 December 2009 - 01:20 PM

Hello,

It's difficult to address these matters in public. We keep logs, e-mails and all electronic communication -- I found yours from 2007 in which the transaction receipt was provided indicating the new owner paid you for the licenses and you authorizing the transfer (you specified "2 licenses.") This also had verification of your client area password, establishing that you were actually making the request. We do not allow a single license transfer - you may only sell the account, which is what you did.

This is exactly why we discourage license transfers to be honest. Many times, someone will sell a license, decide they wish they hadn't and then return, often years later, to reclaim it. We then dedicate hours of research time to determine who the rightful owner of the license is -- and 99% of the time, the current license holder is the rightful license holder.

I'm sorry you did not like the outcome of our investigation. You're free to contact me with any questions or concerns, however, this is not the appropriate place for further discussion.

Thank you.

#1889420 Invision Power Services Are Rip Offs & Thefs

Posted WWN_merged on 17 December 2009 - 01:08 PM

back in 2004 & 2005 I bought a Invision Power Board (IPB) lifetime license from Invision Power Services.

I then shut down my IPB site for a few years because I didn't have the funding to keep it up

It's now 2009 and I found the funding to put my site back online so I went into my Invision Power Services client account to get IPB 3.0.5 and my Invision Power Board (IPB) lifetime is misisng form my account. I sent a ticket to the Invision Power Services staff about this and all they say is they found where i bought the 2 Invision Power Board (IPB) lifetime licenses from them but both Invision Power Board (IPB) lifetime licenses were sold & I know this is not true I rember I sold the one that was bought in 2005 a few mounths ago but I didn't sellt he one that was bought in 2004 so I sould still have a Invision Power Board (IPB) lifetime license in my account but they are saying I don't.

So anyone who is looking to buy IPB do your self a big favor and don't because if this happened ot me then who knows how many other clients they have done this to.
