*easily get away with if if I really wanted. Scare tactics regarding piracy will only go so far.

There are a couple things wrong with your statements on the piracy thread. One, a third party cannot bring up charges on someone for copyright infringement of software they do not own. That's silly. Second, legal action is almost never taken for general piracy. Coming from someone who has worked around this field for years, it is indeed nothing but a scare tactic. I am a client of IPS because of my own choice and my own morality. The reality is I could easily pirate IP.Board and easily ge...

Not quite true. If I see someone break into a new car and drive it out of a dealership, I can call the cops and report it. It doesn't have to come from the owner. Now, I wouldn't be able to send a DMCA on a companies behalf if I'm not authorized, but I could contact a webhost and report the situation to them and let them decide what to do. I didn't say a third party can file charges, only that they can report the crime and the thief could still be brought up on charges. K...

Sure, you're right, and few webhosts are going to take an email from someone who thinks someone is using a nulled version of commercial software with no solid proof seriously. That's not grounds to terminate anyone's account. You would be a bad host to take such complaints seriously, in my opinion.

Furthermore, my datacenter simply forwards any DMCA complaints to me personally to deal with. As I run a medium sized forum that allows members to upload files directly onto the site, I've dealt with a multitude of complaints and dealt with them all accordingly. I've never been at risk for having my account suspended. Of course this is different with shared Web hosts, but unless you are the copyright holder such reports are unlikely to be taken seriously.

Was your recent post telling me to re-read another members post? I'm honestly not sure what you meant.

Shrugs, *really* not wishing to argue about it, especially considering we appear to be on somewhat of the same side.
That said, $10 to view I would say, while not public, very easily accessed.
There is a very real reason you do not see big boards ever post *full* detailed specifications here.

I don't think you should ever post full specifications on any public forum, even if it is closed off to a select group of people. Evil will exist everywhere.
I can understand you to an extent though. I just think the ends to not justify the means. For the same reasons so many people wanted to be against the idea of a client directory. It requires extra staffing.
Then, how any big board owners are genuinely actively here anyways? How many would dedicate their time to...

offering support to the other big board owners?
It just doesn't seem worth the touble to me personally.
I'm not meaning to argue either, apologies if you find me being hostile.
