#2117246 Suggestion! in the features

Posted Charles on 04 June 2011 - 06:01 AM

It's pretty funny actually how people get so worked up. If you actually pause and look at 3.2 compared to 3.1 you will see that, while there are new features, most of what you see in 3.2 is the same stuff in 3.1 just presented better.

I assume what people are all :frantics: about when comparing to Facebook is the "Like This" button on posts? Well that is just the same old reputation feature as in 3.1 in a "like" mode where instead of the +/- buttons you get a button that says "Like This" which is hardly worthy of dire predictions in my opinion. Also, as it's what the masses expect, it will be used way more than the +/- reputation. It already has on this forum by the very people moaning about all the "oh it's like Facebook" features:

Yes, we have added some "social network" sort of features because our clients asked us to it's what the general public expect. However, we are not forcing anything on anyone. If, for some reason, you loathe the idea of people being able to like things, share content, comment on each others profiles, etc. on your community you can certainly shut those features off in the AdminCP.

Posted IPS News on 08 March 2010 - 09:34 AM

It has come to our attention that there is a possible XSS exploit present in both IP.Board 2.3.6 and 3.0.x. This vulnerability allows the attacker to insert CSS or Javascript into certain BBCodes that is executed when a user displays the page.

Resolution
Please download the relevant zip for your IP.Board. Expand the zip file and upload the file over the copy on your server. No other action is required.

IP.Board 3.0.5
Attached File  305-march-10.zip   35.55K   1400 downloads

Please note this patch will only work with IP.Board 3.0.5. If you are using an earlier version of IP.Board 3.0 then you will need to upgrade to IP.Board 3.0.5. After you have upgraded, you will not need to add this patch.

IP.Board 2.3.6
Attached File  236xss_march10.zip   15.61K   2034 downloads

The main download zips have been updated. If you have downloaded either 2.3.6 or 3.0.5 since the time of this announcement, then you do not need to patch your installation.
