#2403693 Pre-formatted replies from support

Posted by Charles on 16 May 2013 - 06:40 AM

I looked at your ticket history.

You submitted two technical support tickets. Our staff replied to both of them but you never replied back to us.

If you do not reply back to our staff I cannot see how we can possibly assist you nor do I really see how you can warrant a complaint. You have to let us help you :)

#2402579 Fully Vested in IPS - What If?

Posted by Charles on 13 May 2013 - 08:29 AM

I'm happy for them to keep doing what they're doing personally ;)

#2402042 IPS4: Better Template Editing

Posted by Charles on 11 May 2013 - 05:57 PM

Version 4's template system is much easier for a novice. I am no designer and it makes much more sense to me than 3's does :)

That would certainly ruin my day too.

#2400605 Question regarding IPB 4.0's responsive design

Posted by Charles on 07 May 2013 - 06:57 AM

Much like we show/hide elements in a responsive design based on the screen size, you would show/hide ads based on the viewing size being used.

#2400303 WHERE IS Security Update: 3rd May 2013 FIX FOR 3.1.X version?

Posted by Charles on 06 May 2013 - 07:39 AM

We no longer release patches for 2.x, 3.0.x, and now 3.1.x. At some point we have to draw a line (just as we did in 2.x and 3.0.x) and we have decided that 3.1 is time to die. It's out of date much like 2.x and 3.0.x are.

Of course this same exact topic comes up every time we finally stop worrying about an old version :)

#2400087 WHERE IS Security Update: 3rd May 2013 FIX FOR 3.1.X version?

Posted by Charles on 05 May 2013 - 03:26 PM

You are really missing some things in your logic. Why don't we put it back to 3.0 too? Or 2.3? What about 1.3?

Sure this SPECIFIC security issue will not be back-ported to 3.1, 3.0, 2.x, 1.x, etc. but those very old versions are surely full of lots of other issues too.  ... I don't know that for certain but because we obviously don't actively go back in time and audit out of date code it seems very risky on your part to just assume very old code is secure.

You have made the choice to continue to use software that we released in 2010. It's the nature of the web that technology changes at a rapid pace.

This was me under the wrong account btw :)

#2399964 Advertising sidebars

Posted by Charles on 05 May 2013 - 06:20 AM

Thanks for your interest.

  1. I'm not aware of a specific mod to do that but you could search the Marketplace :)
  2. You can do that by editing the skin or there is a place on the AdminCP to put in ad code that will be inserted in preset locations.
  3. Yes you can do this with Blocks in IP.Content
  4. Oh there are lots of things built in to the software or available on the Marketplace. I'm sure some current IPS clients will reply here with their own feedback too.

#2399692 security patch 3.1.4

Posted by Charles on 04 May 2013 - 03:29 AM

Version 3.1.4 is no longer support by IPS. To get this along with many other security updates and enhancements you should upgrade.

#2395344 Where is the development of the mobile skin?

Posted by Charles on 19 April 2013 - 08:55 PM

It works really well actually. You'll have to take my word for it as 4.0's skin isn't ready for reveal yet.

#2395196 Where is the development of the mobile skin?

And every single page of the Suite will be mobile ready :)

#2376569 Why create your own Framework?

Posted by Charles on 28 February 2013 - 05:36 AM

I want a refund. ;)

I'm worth 10 times my asking price.

#2376334 Suggestion: Using CSS Sprites for Icons

Posted by Charles on 27 February 2013 - 06:25 PM

That's the thing - why go for lowest common denominator - if someone can't learn how something works like a CSS sprite, they really have no business customizing their forum themselves and should hire a professional.

Spend 10 minutes in our support ticket queue and you will change your mind :)

Haven't you left like 4 times now? :)
