There are few possibilities based on your set up in ACP: Every user can create three kinds of albums: viewable for all members and guests, viewable only for your friends and viewable only for you. In ACP you can set up some albums viewable only for desired members groups

Test installation must be in offline mode and guests cannot register

OR

your test installation must be protected by .htaccess file (you must know password for access it, it's better solution because search spiders cannot reach it and your test board won't be indexed)
