#2271250 Option to fully remove status updates

Posted Jυra on Yesterday, 07:21 PM

Would be nice for forums that don't use it. How is there not an option?

#2269275 Multiple download server locations

Posted Mister Blonde on 20 May 2012 - 07:13 PM

I've sort of been drawn away from IPDownload for a while now as this feature isn't available yet, but if it was to happen I would definitely be willing to return.

This feature, multiple download server locations. For example: If I upload a file to www.examplewebsite.com then the file will be automatically uploaded to the two/three/four etc download servers connected and chosen in the AP. So then if a user wants to download said file, before downloading they get a choice between the two/three/four etc servers allowing you to set up one in say USA and one in UK for example. This allows for a greater chance to expand to different countries as now I'm always presented with the issue that there's always one person who has issues uploading/downloading because they're far away from the server. With multiple download server locations to choose from, that problem is reduced.

Obviously this feature isn't for everyone, but when you have a website which is download/upload heavily based, having this feature is a fantastic advantage.

#2230330 File Updates: Inform whether an actual file was updated or just something else

Posted Con on 11 February 2012 - 01:13 PM

Currently, the same notification message is sent for any file submission update even if a file wasn't updated per se.

For example, regardless of whether a file was updated or only the description was updated, this message is sent:

Quote

member has just updated the file "file title" to which you are currently subscribed.

You may wish to login to website and download the update(s) to this file.

The file download can be found here:
link

Sometimes files are updated without any changes in the version number, and the author doesn't confirm the change unless you ask them.

Thus, it would be useful to have some way (provided via automated means) of differentiating between mere file submission updates and actual file updates.

Perhaps there could be two different notification messages. Example:

file submission update said:

member has just updated information on the file "file title" to which you are currently subscribed.

If there are any updates to the file, this will be noted in a separate email.

The file download can be found here:
link

file update said:

member has just updated the file "file title" to which you are currently subscribed.

You may wish to login to website and download the update(s) to this file.

The file download can be found here:
link

Or perhaps something like the following, in which only one notification message would be sent, but which one would depend on whether a file was actually updated:

file submission update but no file update said:

member has just updated "file title" to which you are currently subscribed.

No files were changed during this update.

The file download can be found here:
link

You may wish to login to website and download the update(s) to this file.

#2256686 Standalone IP.Content?

Posted .Peter on 18 April 2012 - 11:55 AM

Was wondering if it was possible to use IP.Content by itself. I'm really interested in using it as a CMS but I don't need a forum or a community.

#2254568 Suggestion: Before posting, acknowledge that rules are read

Posted Daxter on 14 April 2012 - 12:22 PM

After 10 years of moderating a busy forum I'm pretty tired of post by users that obviously haven't read our forum rules.
I therefore suggest that the editor page include a "I have read the forum rules" field that must be ticked before the post can be made.
(As an optional setting, displayed for users with less than a selectable number of posts)

#2254099 Restore the ability to change skin via URL

I agree simply because its annoying clicking on skin demos and having to then go and change the skin. Why was this ever removed anyway?

#2254071 Full SSL support

Posted Josh H. on 13 April 2012 - 01:37 PM

It's been suggested before to enable full SSL support for the AdminCP, but I'd like to take things a step further with my own suggestion.

I would like to have the option to enable SSL everywhere on IP.Board.

Not just on login pages, not just the ACP, but give users the option to use SSL globally, similar to the manner sites like Facebook do.

Users would be able change this setting through their account settings, giving them the option to enable or disable global SSL this way, but still letting the admin force SSL on login pages.

SSL would first need to be enabled and set up by the boards administrator, of course.

+ 1 on this.

#2254081 Restore the ability to change skin via URL

Posted Tom Christian on 13 April 2012 - 02:07 PM

I'd like to request to have this functionality added back to IPB.

I used this (and many other skin authors) for the "Demo" option in the IPS Marketplace in order to link potential customers to specific skins on a demo forum. Now, they're simply presented with the incorrect skin when following the demo link.

Thanks,
Tom.

Gmail, dropbox... I see more and more sites going over to this system. It's so year 1982 to manually browse files. We have to move on, it's 2012 guys. We need to be ready for the next (lazy) drop-n-share generation.

Can we have a system like this for IP.Download where we can select multiple files on our desktop and drop them into the browser itself and start the upload process?
