#2266604 IPB Lightbox Bugs - Firefox v10 & v12

Posted Shigure on 12 May 2012 - 04:47 PM

This is the third time this has happened...I'm starting to miss when this board was only available to clients.

#2264673 Link to external Privacy Policy page

Posted Michael on 08 May 2012 - 10:17 AM

In 3.3.2, a new Privacy Policy link was added.  But unlike the similar Guidelines setting, we don't have an option to link to an existing Privacy Policy page; we can only enter in Privacy Policy text and give a new title.  For those of us who already had a Privacy Policy page, please give us an option where we can link to it instead of having to copy the text into this new setting.

#2221584 Hook to delete empty albums after [x] days

Totally agree with this, good suggestion mate. thanks

#2211421 better prune/cleanup tools

Posted Dmacleo on 19 December 2011 - 12:48 PM

smf allows a cleanup schedule to be set per forum and its very useful.
for example for forum 1 run cleanup every x weeks/days/hours and delete anything older then x week/days/hours, while sub forums could have their own schedules or follow the parent.

its actually set during the creation of each forum, and of course can be edited later.

this is super useful.

while the m32 delete old topics mod is very nice it does not allow multiple schedules.

#2200789 Quotes

I don't see any way to do what Matt's describing, but I don't understand what the OP's issue is either.  Hit Quote on a post, remove what you don't want, type your response, hit Post.

#2192211 Some "follows" are gone

Posted Con on 06 November 2011 - 01:08 AM

I noticed here at community.invisionpower.com that some topic "follows" are gone (or at least from the front-end display), and attempting to re-follow has no effect on it.

#2171836 Email notifications from this site

The email issue should now be fixed.

The weird fast reply issue has been fixed and committed to SVN. We'll upgrade these forums early next week.

#2165459 Features removed from 3.1.4

Posted rastaX on 04 September 2011 - 06:04 PM

Quite frankly, I think a lot of the issues with this update stem from the numbering system. Let's face it, this is a new version of the software, not just an update to 3.x. I know maybe technically this is still a branch of the 3.x series, but for all intents and purposes for the laypeople out here, a new version number would have communicated better the scope of the changes. New feature set, new skin, etc. It just isn't going to be an easy transition for a lot of folks and there is a difference in a lot of peoples minds between an update and an upgrade to a new version. This isn't going to be simple for those of us with second party features. The mindset we need to have is to prepare for a fairly major upgrade. It is a fresh take on the product. It mostly hits the mark and will be worthwhile in the end. But prepare for a more or less complete overhaul as opposed to a few code updates. I am waiting on a few things before upgrading my 3.1.4 board. But I have started a new board with 3.2 and it is very nice. Different. But over-all a better user-experience for all. It won't take long after the hard work is done to settle back in and appreciate the shiny new version. A little kicking and screaming along the way isn't going to hurt anyone, of course. But waiting until all your pieces are in place before making the move will pay off in the end. There's no security reasons for upgrading, so take your time. Do it right. Adjust to the changes. I did and I'm pretty happy with it. ;)

#2162307 Lessons learned in v3.x - IPBoard and the way things are handled

if I understand right the tracker is almost ready to do most of this as it it, granted user does have to click 2 buttons but maybe an rss setup for versions and status could work?
One of the biggest problems I think we have on the board, and probably a lot of boards have this same issue is topic titles.   I've lost count of the amount of times I've looked for something here on Invision and couldn't find it, only to discover at a later date that the same question or issue does actually exist.   Problem is, some people post using ridiculous titles, like "is this possible?" or "how do I do this?" or "what's wrong with this?"- basically means nothing to anyone viewing titles and something which I personally would feel deserves a "-1".   This just throws the entire search system into chaos, I mean, a search system is really on as good as the descriptions we choose to use.

The same applies to the tracker when people use technical references, trouble is, they know what the problem is and will sometimes use this technical jargon for the title, but again, it means very little to some of us and so we don't even see it.   I suppose I'm almost asking for a double negative here when I think a little more about it, I'm suggesting something which could potentially save staff time and members frustration, but if the staff were to start creating list's in forums that would probably take up more of their time ... double edged sword then?.   Better still, let's just ban those members who can't write a proper title!! - seriously, though, I'm a tad dissapointed the staff haven't responded to this thread (other than our man Andy, 3 cheers for Andy  ) with their views or take on the matter, I know you guys are busy but I've seen you all respond to flamings quick enough - give the one's who want to work WITH you a little more of your time too :)

#2136882 IPS Marketplace - Version Compatibility Filter

Posted ♥ Adam ♠ on 20 July 2011 - 09:39 PM

Currently we can filter our search in IPS Marketplace down to the need for either  IPB, blogs, gallery, IP downloads, IP content, Nexus, and Extra.  Which is nice, but I'd like to take it 1 step further and be able to filter through version number compatibility.

Nothing is more disappointing or frustrating than not knowing right away, if a modification or style is compatible with the software version you are currently using....... Unless I actually read the full description and this provided, if the author even included that information (such details should be mandatory).

It would be really nice if I could simply click a button or something and narrow my search and filter out modification and styles which may not be compatible to the software I am using.  Thus only bring up to view what is compatibly with my current version.

#2136010 News Post Not in News Area?

No, READ the thread, don't glance at it.

It's a soft-release, it's not intended to be news, but information.

#2127355 Easy logo changer suggestion

Posted ΑndyF on 24 June 2011 - 08:46 AM

This is an idea that occurred to me. With Blog, the function is built in to dynamically change the header to the Blog owners name, such as "Andy's Blog"

How about adding this functionality to the Look / Feel section so you can easily adjust the wording on the board's logo.

I would speculate the functionality is almost already there to do this as its done in Blog already. I would suggest the wording should be in the Look / Feel tab 'section' for this if it gets implemented as the board owner may not want the full name in the header, depending on the site name.

I do think this will be of benefit to many sites who retain the default skin apart from a slight header change, and it saves those who do not have anything suitable to edit a .psd time too having someone else change it for them.

#2123386 Username hover card under topic link is extremely annoying

Posted Michael on 14 June 2011 - 10:15 PM

I'm mostly with Darksbase on this one.  Granted, I spend way too much time here, but I also get this popping up on me a lot.  Yes, I know why it popped up and how to get rid of it, but it's a jarring experience when it happens and it takes me out of the mindset I was in when I was looking at the list of topics.  I don't think there should be these popups that could occur if your mouse is 10px or so below a topic title accidentally.  The topic starter font is such a light color anyway that I hardly ever notice who started a topic, but I'm painfully reminded of who it was if I'm not careful with my mouse.

#2116020 Welcome to IP.Board 3.2.0!

Posted IPS News on 02 June 2011 - 10:01 AM

We have upgraded the IPS Community to IP.Board 3.2.0!

This is the first step in the testing process for IP.Board 3.2.0's upcoming release. We will be testing the new version here for several weeks and working on fixing issues with the goal of our first public beta release being as stable as it can be.

Please look around and help us in testing by submitting reports to our bug tracker so we can all work together to create a stable release. Keep in mind that our applications - IP.Gallery, IP.Blog, IP.Calendar, IP.Chat, IP.Downloads, and IP.Content - have also all been updated to be compatible with IP.Board 3.2 so please also test those. Your help is greatly appreciated!

You may wish to review the What's New in IP.Board 3.2 topic for information on the exciting changes in IP.Board 3.2.

Downloading IP.Board 3.2.0

IP.Board 3.2.0 is not yet available for download.

We are using it here on our company forums both as a preview for feedback and to identify any possible issues before release. Before a final release we will be testing it here on our company forums for a few weeks and then posting betas for download for all active license holders and invite you to participate in the beta testing process when we reach that milestone. When the final, supported release is made available we will make an announcement here.
