How can one be serious when not taken seriously…

My father was an electrician and so I became one.
Some people may think at this point “Like Father Like Son”.
Well there was a little more to it than that.
It all started when I was six years old with my first grade teacher telling us we were made of electrons, atoms and ions, in other words electricity.
Today I am a 55 year old semi-retired electrician and I have been doing electrical work for the last 49 years of my life. That’s what I said, 49 years. I started helping my dad after school, weekends and during the summer.
My hobbies all fell into pretty much the same realm, “electronics”. Building my own test equipment in high school as Oscilloscope, VOM, VTVM, Signal Generator and so on from companies like Heathkit and Eico. Not long after I started building radios repairing old TV’s then into got into CB and then amateur radio. I became more in tune of what my first grade teacher was telling us.
Back in the 70’s just like most I had my Atari’s, Vic-20’s but it wasn’t until 1984 when I acquired my first real PC. I was doing some electrical work in a gas station remodel job when I found computer parts literally thrown though out the building. I worked up the guts to ask the owner. He was getting a new system and if I wanted what was there take it but don’t bring it back. It’s a long story but here is where I got my start in building custom computers.
Soon came the Internet and out went bulletin board communications as we knew it. My first Domain was purchased in 1986 to the tune of $75.00 per month back then plus hosting with email but no real web support. That was considered extras during the day. Hence came the self teaching of web design.
After years of disgust going from 1 registrar after another and the same with hosting today I am more than happy with Go Daddy as my registrar and I built a server and I am now hosing my own.
